Seeking setup guidance!

Hello good people of the 3cx forums!

I am very new to this all and am looking for guidance or any resources that may help me achieve my goals.

I am currently a UK resident making use of a Virgin Media broadband solution at my home where I work out of my home office. I am looking to setup a solution in which I may both send and receive calls to and from the landline number registered at my address, via my mobile phone using the 3cx app.

The basic idea of what I am trying to achieve is as follows:

Customer calls my registered landline number --> The call appears on my mobile phone, which I am then able to answer through the 3cx app.

I call a customer from my mobile phone using the 3cx app --> They receive a call, showing the registered landline number.

Is this setup possible? What sort of hardware would be required to achieve it?

Again, I apologise if this is rudementary stuff. I'm very new to this part of the tech world and have never had to deal with VOIP outside of an end-user experience!

Yes, it is possible, however, as you are just trying to use one phone line, there are $ome drawback$. You will require a PSTN gateway to convert the PSTN analogue line into a 3CX trunk. Unfortunately, the supported models handle more than just a single line, so a bit of overkill.

There are some single line FXO gateways, but most (all?) are not supported (you'd have to manually configure), and, many are no longer made, so you are usually looking at buying a used device. Ideally you'd want to use something like the Linksys SPA-3102 (again, not supported and obsolete, but would work), it has both an FXO port (goes to the phone line), and an FXS port that a telephone plugs in to.

As @leejor said you will need a gateway that will convert the line coming out of your broadband box into SIP.

You then need to install a 3CX server which will be able to handle that line.

The 3CX app then connects to the server, and can make and receive calls so the logic is

Virgin modem analog port-> Gateway-> 3CX Server -> 3CX mobile app

Personally I would get yourself 3CX PBX set up on a Raspberry Pi and get your number ported to a SIP provider getting rid of the need for your analogue line (if its not required for anything else such as alarm/fax) and the adapter mentioned above.

Then you can get a DECT walkabout phone (if this is also your home number).

then you can do all you wanted.

If I may be a pain, on that list of supported VOIP Gateways, which do you think would be ideal for my situation?
