Hi,
I'm trying to make 3cx to send the phone number of the caller to an app of mine. My application isn't a CRM, and i'm not trying to open the contact card in 3cx, so i feel like the CRM Integration doesn't fit for what I'm trying to do. I'm using the web version of 3cx. A solution i found was to make a Rest API, and make 3cx call the URL of the API on incoming calls (via the parameters). It works, but my app being a Windows app, opening a blank web browser page on incoming calls isn't a true viable solution. Do you have any ideas on how to catch the caller phone number in a more background way ?

Thanks

The CRM integration will still work. It just calls the specified API and passes the information. So, if your application has the necessary API, it will work.

There are other approaches you can use. For example, the 3CX Phone for Windows application can be configured to call an .exe and pass the phone number. I believe the web client can also do this.

Thanks for your response.

The problem i got with the CRM Integration is that it goes too far. Here is a quote of the CRM Integration documentation :
"3CX includes built-in server-side CRM integration via the 3CX API. To match caller IDs to customers when 3CX receives an inbound call, it queries the CRM system to look up the customer name. If found, the contact is added in 3CX Contacts, the caller name is displayed in the Web Client and the contact entry includes a link to open the CRM contact."

The fact that it queries for a match in the CRM contacts and tries to add him into 3CX are problems to me, because as i said earlier, my application is not a CRM, i just need the phone number.

The 3CX Windows application is a solution. However, I heard that 3CX won't support the windows version for long (I don't remember where I saw that), and I'm aiming for a long term solution.
The web version does not propose to launch an .exe, but only to open the contact URL with the phone number. That's how I used my Rest API to send me the phone number, but the problem with that solution was the opening web page on each call.

I think you are assuming more functionality than necessary. It is just going to call the configured API and send the parameters. What YOUR API does with this information is determined by YOUR API. In any case, another alternative is to subscribe to our VoIPTools API to receive real-time events.

Isn't the 3CX API coming back in V18 ?

3CX has announced that a new REST API and Gateway service will be added at some future time after the release of V18. What we will be able to do with these new features, or when they will be released, has not been disclosed yet.

While this may be true the 3CX API can be accessed now without adding any 3rd party applications

This can be done very easy, let me know if you want a solution for this, I may be able to help you in this

Thanks for both your answers !

I've already done a thing like that using Parameters > Integration>Auto launch a Custom Contact URL using variables, and then typing my API address in the contact URL. The problem i had with this was that Chrome were opening a new tab on each call reception from now on. If you have a way to block this tab from opening, I'm really interested.

I'm also very hyped for the new API to come out.
