Hello,

I am hoping that I have just missed something super simple and obvious and that someone can help.
I haven't been able to find any forum posts having similar issues.
I know that our broadcasting works, as I have been able to do it, so I doubt it is a setting there.

We are unable to get our <Fanvil X5U> phones to correctly broadcast to our Mulitcast Paging Group as:
1) The MCast button we setup via the phones UI is being wiped by 3CX

This works fine when the button is present as it's able to broadcast to all the phones, but I'm guessing this isn't the correct way of doing this? I can't work out how to do this via the Templates, either.

2) When dialling the Paging Group Extension via a BLF button <Custom Speed Dial>, whilst the phone is also provisioned in the MultiCast paging group it just broadcasts the hold music, and the phone that dialled the paging Group is stuck in hold and is only able to hang-up.

So my questions are:
• Is there anyway to setup a MCast button via 3CX? As this seemed to work even if the phones were part of the Multicast Paging group.
• Or disable the Custom speed dial from putting the dialling phone on hold whilst the device is part of the Multicast Paging group? As we want multiple phones that we can dial from, that are also part of the broadcasting group (for emergency use).
The closets resolution I have found is this post <https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/multicast-paging-issues.85267/> on doing it via a custom template, but there isn't enough detail for a complete beginner like me to go off, so any more details would be great!

Thank you for your time!

Just a few pages I have searched to prove that I have tried to resolve this myself:
https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/multicast-paging-puts-paging-caller-on-hold.81081/ <- we want our phones to be part of the Multicast group, so this is not a solution.

Hi,

There are some limitations to be aware of:

a) The phone making the broadcast can not also be part of the broadcast group otherwise it will broadcast MOH (when using Multicast)

b) You cannot manually define it in the phone menu. The broadcast group must be created in 3CX, the phones need to be added to the group via their provisioning page, and if you want a shortcut you can add it as a custom speed dial.

Alternatively, you can use normal paging (not multicast)

Hi John,

Thanks for the response.

I was worried that this was the case.
b) You cannot manually define it in the phone menu.
Is it possible to define a MCast key via a template?

I am just struggling to believe that this is the best way to setup a Multicast system; it actively defeats the purpose of using it for emergencies. You can't have some locations that can't receive a broadcast.

Will setting it to paging resolve this issue? Can a device be a part of the paging group and broadcast a message without being put on hold?

Thank you for your time.

Yes, this is doable but keep in mind each group is limited to 64 members max.

It might be, but you would have to look at the manufacturer's documentation. I'm not aware of anything personally.
It would have to be done via a custom templates - keep in mind we do not provide any support for customized templates though.
