In the V20 Update 2 blog post about multi-tenant capability (https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/multi-tenant-pbx/) it says "It's possible to take a single SIP trunk and assign DIDs to the various extensions and queues in the tenants", but when looking though the forum posts many people are indicating they are using in individual SIP trunk per client (tenant).

In our initial testing we were unable to use one trunk, with multiple DIDs associated with it, for different tenants. All calls that come into that trunk get routed to the default department and not that one we assigned the additional DID to.

Has anyone been able to configure a single SIP trunk so that the additionally configured DIDs correctly route to the desired department/tenant?

It is important that the DIDs are properly assigned in the SIP trunk configuration.

Let me give you an example:

Your Main Trunk number is +17205551000. This number is assigned to your Default Department

You assign the DID +17205551001 to Tenant A
You assign the DID +17205551002 to Tenant B

When the provider sends the incoming call in the format of 17205551001

As far as any human is concerned, this is the same as +17205551001. But not for the PBX. It is not the same, so it doesnt match the DID and its routing, so it sends it to the default trunk route.

You will need to define your DIDs in the format that the provider uses.

You can easily see the format the DID is being sent to the PBX by looking at a packet capture of an incoming call and looking at the TO: field of the incoming INVITE.

Thank you, that was easy enough to sort out!
