Great to see you are back Henk. For me the primary issue is making PSTN calls with the SPA. I have setup 8 in rules to direct to the SPA and included the r to strip. When I dial a complete number in the format 8-xxx-xxx-xxxx (North American format) I just get a dial tone after a brief silence. If I immediately dial the number I wanted again, the call will complete. If I dial 8 only and wait a sec or two for dial tone, then dial remaining number, call works. But will not work if I dial complete 8-xxx-xxx-xxxx only. For me that is the key and only issue right now.

Question:

IP Phone is that a Hardware phone or software phone?
When you pick up the phone, you hear nothing?
Is the phone connected directly to the SPA?

This is how it should be:

3CX responsibility:
All numbers dialed will be prefixed with the 8, this makes you select what gateway/provider to use. This routing is controlled by 3CX so 3CX will strip the 8 from the number (hence the r you setup) the number that is forwarded to the SPA will be xxx-xxx-xxxx (without the 8).
Registers both devices (phone and spa)
Provides DIAL TONE

SPA responsibility
SPA receives a message with the number xxx-xxx-xxxx it knows it will be required to ring the PSTN line, simply because the VSP traffic will NEVER reach the SPA if configured correctly.
Unless you want to strip and do funny stuff with the numbers before they are dialed I would go easy on the dial plan in the SPA. I can set up a dial plan for you but I need more info. Keep the dial plan simple.
Establish connection
Can provide DIAL TONE but in a 3cx configuration it is not required.

IP Phone responsibility.
This is where I think you might have a look. Digital Map.
See if it is able to start dialing after all the digits are received. (11 digits).
What you say is that you dial 8, wait than get a dial tone and you can dial the number. To me this is that the digital map receives a number waits for further response from the user, does not get any so dials 8, 3CX only receives eight so opens the port to the SPA PSTN.
If your digital map is 10 the phone will fire the request after 10 digits so that is to early.

Does that make sence? I do not know your SPA config but Lets start with where the responsiblity should lay, it might be your SPA but lets do one step at a time.

that sounds like the way its suppose to work but what actually has happened is I pick up the phone and get a dial tone from 3cx dial a 9 or a 9+10digits and I get a dial tone from the PSTN via the spa. The digits never get sent.

sorry about being late same as above

Ok test this for me.

enter your number 9 + 10 digits and than presh # are the digits sent?

As per my previous post, it might be related to Digital Map.

For those who are interest.

The SPA is a web enabled device, give me access via the web to the device. Ill have a look arround.

Specify your problem and what you are trying to do in an email and provide the SPA web address I can reach from the internet.

Mail it to me on henk at 3cxdotcomdotau

First come first serve. I can spend 15min a day per user and let you know what should happen before we make changes.

would that work. (gosh it xmass already :-))

Hi Henk,

Answers sent via email with Online access link to my SPA3102. Please let me know if not received. Thanks for the assist.

Mirza.

great new tidbit. if you enter a # at the end it does nothing, but if you enter 9# then the number it works with the spa 941 if you try it with the soft phone it doent work quit the same. I think this has something to do with the 941 actually generating a tone. so if you did 9# pause pause then sent the digits it might work

but if you enter 9# then the number it works with the spa 941

Yep, you have an issue with the digital map. Try to fix that, well that is the first thought comming to my mind atm.

Mail received
SPA analysed
Mail with suggestions returned

Let me know if that works, I hope it does but I have not had time to look at your dial plan. Will do that later, how experienced are you with dial plans?

Thanks Henk, email received. Since I am 75% asleep I will try first thing in the morning and post results. I would not like to confess my area of trained expertise - suffice it to say no keyboards, many tires, burns gas. All I know is self taught. I can work my way through a dial plan but not as fast as the many IT professionals here, but I will get it done.

Thanks for the assist, regardless of outcome. Much appreciated.

Mirza,

Any thoughts on a dial plan I have tried hundreds of combos

Dial plan for SPA-941 or 3cx?

[I don't use a plan in my '941, thats a project waiting for a really rainy day....]

Not the spa941. the spa3102 or the 3cx

Ah, ok - we are back on old ground!

So you have the SPA3102 added as a gateway in 3cx? It is registered, showing green and otherwise looking happy in 3cx? This gateway has a virtual extension and name ....

You have an outbound rule that says:
Name / apply to extns / number prefix transform /make calls on
and your entry shows something like:
All outgoing / blank / 8 / r / name
[where all outgoing is just my name, blank = no entry & name is your gateway name]

So to my way of thinking any incoming 8xxxxxx numbers will have the 8 stripped off and be sent out as xxxxxx to the SPA-3102.

This should show in the server status log as [I dialled 9 123 from extn 105]

16:10:32.038 CallConf::onIncoming [CM103002] Call(101): Incoming call from 105 (Ext.105) to sip:[email protected]

This shows the entire dialled string coming into 3cx [ip .150]

So far so good????

actually i have 3 outbound lines registered. 2 are voip through a provider and they work by dialing 8xxxxxxxxx the 3cx will had off either one. the other rule is 9 r and that should send the calls to the spa 3102 and it does but any call 9xxxxxxxxx or just 9 will send you to the spa but the digits will not follow. ie you get a pstn dial tone and then you can dial the number.

If you log into the 3102 under voice/info what does the 'last called PSTN number show'?

@gw0 and a 10 digit number that didnt work probably from an old call much earlier.

I am out for about 6 hours but I will respond later

Yep, can't sit on the 3cx forum all Sunday!!

If it helps I can e-mail my 3102 config to you if you PM me your address. Might give you some pointers....

Cjay does your SPA3102 work for clean dial out on PSTN with complete string once? I received your setup info and faithfully replicated them on my unit with no change on my issue - If I dial 8 for SPA or I dial 8-xxx-xxx-xxxx I get another dial tone either way. The only to make outgoing calls on PSTN is to dial 8, wait for tone, dial rest.

Yes it does - I wouldn't even know there was an ATA attached. Just dial whole string from an IP phone (or analog on 3102 Line 1 registered as a 3cx extn) and out it goes.
