Hi Folks, I am shifting our office across to 3CX and the only feature that i can not replicate is our training mode.

Currently we have a key programmed on our phones that when pressed will change the destination of the trunk to a training IVR that will then direct to our oncall mobile

I know that this can be done inside the 3CX portal and i could grant a few users modify trunk access to be able to do this but i was really hoping that there would be some way that i could program it onto a phone key. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

eg during business hours a call hits the trunk and then goes to the regular IVR
if there was a DSS key that could be pressed to change the in hours trunk destination to our training IVR that would be awesome

is this possible?

Hi @NicoC

There are a few different ways you can do this. The first and easiest is by using a dummy extension. Just create a dummy extension and have all calls within office hours go through that extension. Set the extension to Away for example and route all calls to your usual destination. When you want to change the destination just switch the status of the extension to DND and forward all calls to your training IVR.
You can switch the extension status via the webclient from an extension with the appropriate rights or by just having a phone for that extension somewhere or by having an account on a mobile device where you can switch quickly and change the status.

The second way which is a bit harder is by using the CFD to create custom script which does what you want. This requires a PRO license.

Hi Yanish, i have gone with the extension that gets changed to DND to redirect to a different IVR and it is working great. I will just have our admin girls have the second extension on their softphones so that they can change it
