Hi, I have Fanvil X3S with two lines and I would like to setup two users, that is two EXTension number, on the same phone.

It seems to be impossible in autoprovisioning mode.

I tried to manually configure through the web admin panel of the phone the two lines but the second EXT doesn't register.

Help me if possible!

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

We do not support adding more than one extension per hardware device.

The only exception is with DECT stations that can have multiple extensions registered under the same base.

Ok, got it. And what about to have on the mobile phone both 3CX app and maybe Zoiper for having two EXT on the same mobile phone?

The 3CX app can handle one active extension at a time but you can configure more extensions on it and switch between them if/when needed.

You can have your 2nd extension forwarded permanently to your 1st which is active on the 3CX app. This means you will receive incoming calls for both extensions on one device. And if you ever need to make outgoing calls from the 2nd extension, it's really easy to switch extensions from within our app.

As for 3rd party apps, you will have to configure them manually by yourself but without the security and NAT-traversal benefits of the 3CX tunnel which is included in our app.

OK, many thanks. Regards.

this is not so difficult to replicate manually a second extension setting on deskphone.
Just copy most of them except 3CX extension user id and password (get them from 3cx console)

I would compare the settings again, and use the 3CX Activity Log to see if there is a log of the attempted registration, of the second line. It may be a mistyped password / Auth ID issue. The log will make that clear. And be certain that you've given the second extension a different local port number, on the set.

@leejor , @aws2p thank you but I'm confused becasue @JohnS_3CX declares that more that one EXT on a single hardware device are not supported. In fact each single EXT is associated with MAC address of the device. o_O

It is true, that more than one extension, on a set, is not "supported" by 3CX. In other words, if you have modified a template, or manually configured the set to add the second extension, then 3CX will not provide support if there are issues. If you chose to submit a trouble ticket, you would have to first revert the set(s) back to the default template.

It does not mean that it will not work.

Yes I understand. But where I have to put a different local port? I will maintain the standard config but now I'm curious.

I have some Yealink T46's, 3 of them, that have 2nd extension on them. Works, and cust can toggle back and forth between accts, but handsets show as "unprovisioned" on phones page in mgmt console. Each ext is tied to a unique mac address as mentioned above. I duplicated setting in handset gui, substituting in the unique ext # and pass for the second ext, no port adjustments.

But where I have to put a different local port?
It would be in the settings for each of the extensions created on the set. By default the first extension is usually 5060, so the next would be 5061...5062, etc. Because they all reside on one IP, without different ports 3CX would have difficulty addressing each extension.

on my pbx I use a snom D785 on which 2 extensions are set with no problems since months, same ip, same sip port, same Mac@

This is what I read from activity log:

; Reason: Credentials don't match, check that authorization-ID and password match the ones in extension settings

But the ID and PW associated to the new ext created are copied from here below, under the right ext1608289821984.png

If you are cutting and pasting, it may be, that you have introduced a space, at one end of the string. I've seen that happen before.
