Hi all,

I tried to connect via FileZilla and I was able too, however I could not write onto the folders. I did some googling and ran this command sudo chown -R -v ec2-user /var/.

It is hosted on AWS.

Now, I can no longer access via SSH, FTP or make changes on 3CX including changing the email settings :(

Please could someone assist? :)

I hope you have a backup or snapshot as you changed the permissions of the folders and in /var/lib is 3CX located which uses permission of a separate user we create.

Thanks for your quick reply.

Yes I have a backup thankfully. So I am guessing this system is broken now? Would I just simply have to restore it from the management console, or provision a new system on AWS?

Ah I see, how would I get write access?

You would have to run the same command but replace the user to phonesystem i think the user is called, probably...

Issue is that I can now longer SSH onto the AWS instance :( not sure why, because it said permission change failed..

:D can you log in to restore?

Yes, I can logon to the 3CX management console. I can see that 3CX PhoneSystem Database Server is stopped and when I try to restart it, it kicks me out and I have to login again.

Will I be able to restore, and would it fix this issue or would I need to delete the AWS instance and start again from backup?

Thanks

Sorry mate I've never used 3CX in AWS but id say try and do a restore via the MGMT console first and if that fails, trash your VM, recreate and restore.

Alright no worries. Thanks :) dumb question but I am running a custom FQDN - the phones will auto pick up the new instance (3CX system with backup) if I go that route I am guessing?

As long as you backed up that info, it was will restore just as it was.

What were you trying to acheive in the first place?

If i were you I would use WinSCP to browse the files on your system

I am running Mac, not sure if WinSCP is available?

I was trying to change the default email guide that gets sent out because the QR code is confusing customers (when they are opening the email, they think the guide is their QR code for mobile provisioning so I removed it and uploaded a custom PDF guide I made).

I managed to do it on Google Cloud VM but failed on AWS.

Why don't you just store the guide somewhere else like Google Drive/OneDrive/DropBox and just edit the email template to link to it?

Good idea, will use that in future. Thanks
