Solved Upgrade from v16 to v18 on Windows Server 2016 R2

Hi All
I am planning a big upgrade for this coming weekend. I have a virtual Windows server running 2016R2. 8 virtual processors and 24GB of memory. I have just over 2000 extensions running well at the moment. I know the procedure of backing up and uninstalling v16 and then install v18.
Have anyone done this on Windows server? Is there anything I need to be on the lookout for?

Hi @jofer,

Sounds good to me. If you take the full backup and move it off the machine just as a precaution, you should be fine uninstalling v16 and installing v18. It's a rather straightforward process. Let me know how it goes!

Also because it's a VM, you can take your backup - move it off of the machine - shut down the VM - add a new VM and install using the backup and if anything goes wrong, your old VM is standing by just to avoid any downtime. This shouldn't be necessary but it's just best practice to ensure that you're never blindsided by an update.

I also like the idea, but my customer own the hardware and they prefer it running in Windows environment. If I had my way I would have done this.

Good Morning,
Just an update on my upgrade. It went very well. It just took very long but it is normal for a large system. The install took 5 hours.
I notice something, from the dashboard if I go to Number of calls in use, I have multiple pages of active calls. I cannot go to all pages. It is very random but it only allows me to 2 or 3 of them and the rest just do not respond when clicking the page number on the bottom of the list.
It is not a big problem but something to investigate.

Yes clicking it 2 times works, not a fast double click,, 2 slower clicks does the trick.
