V16: Linux OS Upgrade from Debian 9 to Debian 10 is now Available

Try rebooting the machine or ssh to machine and see what service is down.
I waited an hour before I restarted. I have since restarted it twice. I have console access to the device and can login. How do I check the services? And debian did not upgrade to 10 either. The console still shows on debian 9

@hroberts65616

I'll PM you shortly for more information regarding this issue.

@hroberts65616 , as discussed via PM, since this is an on premise machine, you can redeploying it using the v18 Beta ISO found here: https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v18-beta/

If you have a v16 backup from the previous installation, you should be able to use it to restore your configuration during the installation wizard of v18.

BUG: If a user is on DND and you try to call them, their phone still alerts them of a missed call and alerts them. Same with messages. If you send a message, it will go through regardless if they're on DND or not.

This is actually expected behavior that also applied for 3CX v16 as well.

Calling an extension that is in DND will result in a Missed call for the callee extension as it was a call that never got received by the actual extension. This is to inform the extension that someone attempted to reach them while they were in the Away, DND or Custom 2 Profile status.

A chat will indeed still be received regardless of the receiving extension's Profile status. That way, the receiving extension will still have the option to view received chats even if they were sent while they were in Away, DND, Custom 2 Profile status. Chats have a "read" status when opened by the recipient so the sender will know if the chat was read or not.

Thank you for letting me know about that. So if an employee is on leave, they need to log out completely instead of being able to use DND if they do not wish to be notified?

If what is bothering them is the PUSH notification on the mobile device, then what you could do is disable the "Accept Push Notifications" under "Forwarding Rules >> DND >> Options". That way, they'll still be able to know if they received a chat or missed call by opening the 3CX App, but they will not receive a PUSH notification on the mobile device.

Note: If you only want this behavior to apply for only specific cases, such as when they're on leave, you could leave the current DND profile status as is and only customize the Custom 2 (Business Trip) profile status in this manner. That way, they can use this Custom 2 profile status when on leave instead.

Thanks, Chris for your info! I'll pass it on. Quite positive feedback about the new UI.

Is there a way of upgrading a cloud based (our own cloud) 3CX system to V18, it's not giving me the option through the updates section on the management console? We are already on Debian 10.

If you're running 3CX v16 on a Debian 10 machine that is the reason you are not seeing the upgrade option.

Your best option would be to take a backup, download it offsite, deploy a new machine using the latest 3CX ISO for v18 and restore the backup during installation.

Note: Remember to shutdown the old machine before deploying the new and then delete it once you've confirmed the new instance is up and running with everything operational.

Aha makes sense, so the two go hand in hand, So if I was running Debian 9 and v16 I would see the upgrade option.

That is correct, at least provided that the 3CX Instance in question has been deployed as per our guides and is generally running a 3CX Supported configuration.

I ran up a Debian 9 with V16, restored my backup, and now have successfully upgraded to Version 18, thanks for the help.

Im currently in the process of moving VMs from Win to Debian - If I download the ISO now am I gonna end up taking them to v18?

I have some systems running R16.0.8.16 with license key that will expire soon.
In order to renew them, I need to upgrade these systems to R18.
When I check the updates pages, i'm told my system is up to date... (they are connected to internet)

If you have installed 3CX on a Windows Server, then this is expected because on Windows major updates can't be installed in-line.
For upgrade instructions check here: https://www.3cx.com/docs/upgrading-pbx/

FYI, if you are on Windows and want to switch to Debian, you can do during this process (or vice versa of course...).

All our systems run on Debian, installed using the 3cx iso.
Is using apt-get update / upgrade an option?
