@Nick Galea I can't see it on the release notes, but any chance you've added the ability to link an SBC to a department so that department admins can add users phones on an SBC?

Hi @OLOL

Although you cannot assign an SBC to a department after it has been added to the system, if the department admin or owner create the SBC, it will be assigned to their department.

That's useful to know - any chance that assigning after the fact will be coming soon? I don't really feel like recreating a bunch of SBCs

Nice update with very useful features included.

Thank you 3CX Team!

Thank you. All running fine with the update.

What would be the process to upgrade existing Windows Pro version to v20 ? I believe it was mentioned earlier that Pro licenses would be upgraded to Ent ?

Great job!!! Thanks to Team 3CX for bringing all the nice features in Update 2. We switched our meeting server to the private MCU. It worked perfectly.

Anything I'm missing as to why this isn't showing on self-hosted? I assumed the RC didn't show as it wasn't a production update, but same on this one. Just showing up to date but without any option to update. Thanks

Andreas had responded that a small subset of systems needed to do the following to see the updates. Once I did all worked fine and I could see the updates.

Just login to the server via SSH and run the following command:
chmod 644 /etc/apt/sources.list.d/3cxpbx-testing.list

Still no mass user editing it seems in Update 2?? Come on guys, this is an absolute admin killer for anyone with more than 5 extensions on their PBX.
Like, don't get me wrong, I'm stoked with OpenAI. But we need the basics too.

Hi @OLOL
I understand your perspective, but it doesn't work that way.

An SBC (Session Border Controller) is a network endpoint that can have users associated with it. These users might belong to different departments, or even the same department. However, there's no department segregation at the network level, as the SBC operates purely on that level.

Think of the SBC as a VPN; it connects everything behind it to the server. Ultimately, it introduces a group of users to the system, and these users need to be assigned to their respective departments.

Even if we could assign an SBC to a specific department (e.g., Sales), implementing logic to automatically add "everything behind the Sales SBC" to the Sales department would be very challenging.

You should add SBCs based on your remote locations. If you have multiple locations, you need multiple SBCs. These SBCs don't need to be department-specific; rather, the users connected behind them should be assigned to the appropriate departments.

I hope this helps!

Hi @sam.phillips
We assure you, we're not delaying this for fun. The feature will be included in Update 3.

Keep in mind that we rolled out an entire Admin Console Site. So, while you may have more than five extensions to manage, you now have a single site to oversee, which was our initial priority.

After addressing stability fixes and preparations in Updates 1 and 2, we're now ready to include this feature in Update 3.

Does anyone know for Teams-3cx presence sync, How to notify Teams when 3cx user on the call. It does sync with available, DND and away.

@Mijal
It is done automatically.
in update 3 we will have support for 2 way syncing.
We also need to think to allow the profiles to be editable.. Because currently we have a hardcoded mapping which does not satisfy everyone.. We are working with the community on this.

Very nice,
Does Fixed PNP for Windows Softphone fixes my problem related to windows server 2019?
https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/v20-windows-softphone-provisioning-on-server-2019.127746/

I will push to block this. Because this is not correct. And we are not accepting arguments about this.
Do we play songs on servers? Of course not. Do you let someone login to your servers and run a script to play a song without an audio driver installed?

So we dont make calls on servers either.
Tell the user to use servers for server work and clients apps on client operating systems.

I assume the Windows Server upgrade path from v18 to v20 is backup, uninstall , install and restore? Any documented procedure available in regards to the process and configuration after restore ?
