I enabled voicemail transcription earlier today, and my transcriptions were empty. After searching the threads, I saw 2 recommendations:
1 - disable ipv6
2 - check that billing was active in google cloud

My billing is fine and I didnt want to disable ipv6, so I turned off application restrictions in google cloud and my transcriptions are now coming through. Which ip address am I supposed to use in the google cloud speech to text api application restriction? Is it an ipv6 address, and if so, where can I locate mine?

thanks in advance for your help!

We have ours locked down via IPv4 public IP

So let me get this straight. You had a problem, searched for the answer, found a recommendation, and then decided not to do it?

Assuming you followed the guide here:

https://www.3cx.com/docs/voicemail-transcription/

Then the IP address you want to add would what is covered under step 9. If you added the IPv4 address correctly and it wasn't working then that only leaves one other IP address no? If you don't know how to find your IPv6 address then you are probably better off disabling IPv6 hence the recommendation to disable it.

Or do nothing at all as it's working.

Chances are I made a mistake on setup. I went back to google cloud API and re-entered my ipv4 public IP in the application restrictions, and transcriptions are continuing to come through. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Good deal. Keep in mind that with app restrictions off, the only thing protecting the account is the API key. Restricting it to the IP address means even if someone gets your API key the requests would have to come from one of the allowed IPs.

This is unquestionably the wrong place, but most threads asking this question are locked and state that it may be enabled in a future release (from over a year ago).

Can transcriptions be enabled for certain extensions only yet? We don't want the price to get out of hand and really only want to enable it on a few key accounts.
