What’s Cooking in our Remote Kitchens? The 3CX Road Map

Public holiday option for inbound rules is a must for us and lots of people in the netherlands.
We have lots of companys that have different branches within one pbx they need different audio messages to be displayed on different days. Now we have to do a lot of config on the exception rules tab. this should be a basic option and already requested for a few years on the idea tab.
Even one company moved away from 3cx because of laking of this option.

A call flow would do this, you can specify the incoming number, the day and the message to be played on it. Set it up once per year for the following year?

Hi Nick, LDAP/AD integration for network user authentication is a big ticket item.

3CX Opus support extended to Yealink's other phone series.

Google Chrome 3CX extension functionality to load at start-up under macOS and to behave more like an Application. (If this is to replace the macOS App). Alternatively, extend the 3CX for iOS app with Catalyst to support macOS.

Please use the ideas forum for feature requests.

What about full opus support?
With full opus support, I mean end-to-end use of opus codec (over SIP Trunks) as soon as the partner also supports the opus codec.
Thanks

Thats no option for a end user or for a last minute change in the working hours or days. Especially now with Corona going on.

Tried that with my feature request for 2 years now, but no response from your side.

@Vinnied - Yes, posting a feature request is unfortunately not guarantuee at all that it will be implemented. But the top 10/20 are always looked at.

It would be ideal if we could keep the discussion in this thread to the road map. Also as a gold partner you can post in the gold partner forum and if many gold / platinum partners like the feature then of course it will help matters.....

My apologies if this was already answered; When integrating with O365, will sending email follow suit? MS has pushed for modern authentication versus application passwords, which seems to have broken this functionality.

@Nick Galea. FYI. Today I received this from JIVE (a Logmein company) gotoconnect " We’re pleased to announce that you can now include attachments with your text messages. Multimedia messaging (MMS) is rolling out now and will be available to all GoToConnect customers by June 12, 2020. To send an attachment, just click the paperclip icon, attach your file, and send. Don’t have access to text messaging? Contact your Admin for help." I am a Beta tester and the feature works great. It is awesome to be able to send MMS from their desktop app, google chrome, and the mobile app. I truly hope we can do the same with 3cx in a near feature :)

I'm surprised people keep comparing 3CX (a phone system) to a complete hosted stack. It's easy for a hosted provider that controls everything end to end to do this. Otherwise without a set standard or API that everyone can agree on it's nearly impossible for a PBX product to offer integration unless they only do it through one provider. Perhaps with widespread adoption of RCS this might be possible.

@cobaltit @Cascada - Yes we are working on SMS/MMS/RCS integration into 3CX as per the roadmap. Its not far off....

Not to nag, but what does that mean in terms of rough timeframe? I'm too new to 3CX to have a feel for the usual update frequency.

Are we talking about SMS/RCS coming in 2 months? 6 months? 10 years?

Can you clarify Directory Segmentation by User Group?
I have a 24SC system in a Serviced Office that are threatening to go elsewhere if their tenants keep seeing other businesses in the directory. If I could give them some feedback that the feature is on the Road Map then I could convince them to stay with 3CX.

Yes you can limit users in presence and phonebook shown based on group membership..... i.e. if each serviced office has its own group they would only see their group members

Just now catching up on this announcement. Lot's of cool stuff coming!

I wanted to add my 2 cents on the Zoom discussion. In my opinion, there are two reasons Zoom has taken off.

1. Brand name.
2. Self-service sign up.

Let me explain #2. Here's a direct quote from a text message from a user, "I went ahead and setup my own [Zoom] account." Users feel like they have a lot of control. They think it's cool that they can set it up on their own. That, combined with brand name, is great momentum that is hard to stop. This is a user that I have already provided a Microsoft Teams account AND a Zoom account. And they still felt the need to create their own Zoom account because something wasn't working. With Microsoft Teams and Google G Suite/Meet, 3CX, and many other video conferencing solutions, there is either a perception or a reality that an end user cannot sign up on their own. Certainly, no end user is going to spin up 3CX just for a video conference. Users are used to signing up for Facebook, Netflix, Pinterest, and other websites on their own. Zoom made it seem the same.

I know it's a personal issue, but I get frustrated when users feel the need to go off and use a tool on their own because they feel the one I have provided isn't good enough. I expect the 3CX team can resonate with that when they've spent a great deal of time and energy working on the WebMeetings.

@kylejwx93 Thank you for your feedback. But to be honest the whole point of 3CX is that you do not require the user to sign up to anything at all. They can just follow the link.... For a company type meeting this is the best i think as making an account is a barrier.

I know Zoom is a good platform and we do not claim to be better. With the latest improvements (we have made a huge improvement in the last two months, try it out again if you used it before) 3CX is pretty close to Zoom. I believe for most companies 3CX is absolutely good enough - with the main advantage being it comes at no cost, is integrated with 3CX, and you have much more control of the data being exchanged.

@Nick Galea Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, I'm talking about a user signing up to create and host meetings. 3CX and other solutions will always be considered an "enterprise" thing or "something I have at work." 3CX WebMeeting is great value, but it's never going to appeal directly to consumers and it's probably not meant to. People feel more in control when they can create an account themselves, even if they won't often host a meeting.

Overall, I think the Zoom phenomenon has more to do with sociology than it does with technology. And as someone who likes technology and knows that there are plenty of platforms that could accomplish the same thing, I do find it puzzling when people are so committed to a specific technology (Zoom, Apple, etc.) just because of brand name.

Thanks Nick, excited by the roadmap, especially the messaging integration, the dream of a truly unified communication platform that would allow a contact centre to interact with customers using the most relevant method would be amazing, you mention imessage as well, any plans to bring in twitter private messages and whatsapp etc..?

Keep up the good work,

Regards,

David.

I have to agree with Nick here, we use 3cx webmeetings for onboarding, it makes it easy for the client to simply click a link and join a meeting. they don't have to worry about making yet another account to remeber, or worry about their personal information being stored/leaked.

For a small IT team like us, it is one less thing for us to troubleshoot.

webmeetings have had some major improvements and at this point is working very well, our current two outstanding issues would be to redirect audio from a pc (for a presentation when screen sharing) and to allow for higher frame rates when showing videos.

For audio redirection, we found a workaround using a product called mcable which redirects sound in windows to a simulated microphone.
