Yealink T38G

Got my hands on one, and am looking at deploying about 50 of them pretty quick here. There doesn't seem to be any info on them yet. No template and no guide for manual or auto provisioning. Any idea if it will take a T28 config? I've got it up and running on the system and everything works great, but it's going to suck if I have to manually provision 50 of these things.

Hi Dan,

Here is my template. I have made a few updates from the original one I posted last June. This one has the changes to allow the user selected ring tone to work properly. I also added the rest of the BLF buttons for one EXP39 expansion module.

Do you have the DialNow feature working for this template? I want to program, XXX, XXXX, XXXXXXXXXX, etc.... to dial without pushing SEND. T-26P template allows this.

I would like to see perhaps the first two lines as the users extension then the other 4 for things such as speed dials, BLFS or whatever.

Also is there any way to remove the broadsoft section out the directories?

Thanks for the response. With the Cisco 525's without the 500's expansion module the first 2 lines are the extension and the next 3 are customizable via the provisioning section. When you add the 500's then the 5 lines become the extension and the first blf is on the expansion module. Doesn't make much sense to me...who needs to handle 10 calls at once. Since you can take 2 calls per line button on the 525's. I did notice that the second call on the t38's come into the second button rather than multiple calls on the same button.

It seems like a language translation issue but I don't like that rather than "end call" or "end" or "hangup"...the soft key says "cancel" to drop the call. Perhaps there is a way to change that in the template also. I want to use these phones but having a hard time with some little things like "cancel" and the embedded broadsoft stuff. The paper button labels are also a mess.

I love the fact the t38's have gig ethernet ports. Even though the switch port on the back is labeled "internet" haha. I also really like the fact that they support the electronic handset lifter.

Is it possible to remove that little android looking picture that comes up when you receive or place a call?

Has anyone managed to provision the wallpaper/background yet?

I have BLFs, Line Keys as Park keys, Theme Setting, Line Display Name all working perfectly... I just can't seem to provision or change the wallpaper...

It's a 'Logo' on the T2x phones, but the T38 on the web interface it lists as a 'Wallpaper', but when you hover over the question mark it states its a 'background'.

The only setting I can find that is close to that in the config is "PhoneSetting.BackGrounds"

It has no setting to begin with, setting it to 0, 1 or pictures (02).png does nothing..

Hopefully someone has worked it out

I would like to know how to do this as well. I wouldn't mind doing it manually but when you reprovision the phone it puts the default back. I know when you manually modify the wall paper on the Cisco spa phones and reprovision the background stays. I have not been able to get the background on those phones set with the provision file either.

I've worked out the required fields using the Yealink Techincal Documents ( http://www.yealink.co.uk/technical-instructions/ )

and more specifically http://www.yealink.co.uk/assets/T38G/T32_T38%20Auto%20Provision%20Manual%201.2.1.zip

on page 39 it shows how to program the PhoneSetting.BackGrounds

eg PhoneSetting.BackGrounds = Resourceictures (04).png

and on page 66 how to download the file

So I can now get the file to download, and using the PhoneSetting.BackGrounds I can change the picture, but so far I can only reliably change the picture to a default image. I can see in the phone web interface the file.png has downloaded, and it can be selected manually. But when specified in the PhoneSetting.BackGrounds = Resource:file.png it does not apply every time. (I've had it work maybe 1 in 10 times).

Getting closer.... unless this is a bug in the 38.0.0.115 firmware...

I have tried and tried as well without luck.
I did see in the current template this line already exists:
PhoneSetting.BackGrounds =

tried both resource: and config: with no luck.
This set line is above the section where you load a new png - so I thought maybe that was it and tried moving things around - but no luck. manual also says this requires a reboot, so I tried adding a header to this line
[ cfg:/phone.config/user.ini, reboot=1] and that did not help.

Anyone?

You can upload your own logo, or background by placing this code in your provisioning template...

Place your version of LogoT38.png in your provisioning folder. You can call it what ever you like, just adjust the template to match and keep in mind that the file name is case-sensitive. My logo has a transparent background so the logo appears in front of the selected Theme's background image.

My logo file is copying (i can select manually) but is not getting applied and thought I tried that code.

What firmware are you running?

I have had the logo working this way from 38.0.0.70 forward.

I had this yesterday - so I thought - but now it is working...

I still cannot get this to reliably work. It will download the logo 100% of the time, but it will not apply the logo. It still has to be manually selected from the menu (Or via web interface).

However if I specify an existing background that's on the system, its fine.

I'm not sure that user.ini reboot is actually rebooting the phone however...

Sorry friend. It is working 100% for me. I tried several times deleting the logo (it returns to flowers) and then rebooting phone.
My logo comes back.

I have those items at near bottom of the template file.

Yealink just posted a newer firmware

I've just provisioned 4 handsets with this firmware and my logo's are deploying correctly everytime!

So it appears this firmware has fixed my issues.

Lots of great features in the new firmware and a half feature too.
They added a multicast paging button assignment - but I can not find where to setup the multicast listener so people can hear the multicast page.
Am I just missing it?
