3cx License and FQDN Reassigment

Hi All,

I have created a 3cx hosted instance using an NFR license for some testing. I am looking to amend the FQDN but I am not seeing any option to unlink the license from FQDN on the instance or the partner portal. My ultimate goal here is to create an instance, peform some testing and purchase a license from 3cx and replace on the same instance.

You can unlink the fqdn on the customer portal. Anyway, you cant change your licence from NFR to something else.

EDIT: The way to go where to use a test licence and upgrade this one to paid.

No you cannot unlink reseller from NFR. The NFR should be use by the reseller anyway

We are a reseller, we have and old payed License and is want you switch to our NFR License

Maybe customer service could help you here?

Speak to your account manager, they might be able to switch it for you. Alternatively, a redeploy might be the only way.

If you are a dealer and commit to selling 3CX, you should be using 3CX yourself, which is why you receive the NFR.
You can use your own working NFR for testing in any way you like, while using it yourself.

As a dealer, in your Partner Portal you can obtain a Trial License. This provides you with an 8 Pro for one month, which you can use to build the instance for the customer (users, phonebook, CRM, phone provisioning, trunks, DID, outbound rules… the works).
Once satisfied, you can sell the license and upgrade to the required license, and you DO NOT TOUCH your NFR, ever!

Online questions about NFR abuse is certainly not the way to go. I would guess you are close to being banned!
Let it be clear that you should ALWAYS communicate with 3CX regarding licenses; there is no one else who can really help you with this.

I understand that I am writing this a bit STRONGLY, but please understand that this is a business, not a free gimmick.

Onboarding new Dealers is always a tricky one, but i am sure he wants to get it right!
Again I am sorry for being so direct and bold, but that coud be because i am passionate about my work and 3CX (like many others here in the community).

I read it differently, that LibertyX is trying to move their FQDN to their new NFR server. This seems unrelated to the license type.

If memory serves there is always a possibility of losing an FQDN once removed….even if no one else uses it, there are domains no longer used.

Presumably the NFR is not installed yet and this is during installation?

Of course any phones/apps would need to be seen up again, or better yet reset/deleted first to avoid blocklisting the source IP.

Hello,

As to backups, make sure you do not backup with license or FQDN, if you are moving around with FDQN or License.
Only full backup if you stay on the same FQDN and license.

When setting up a 3CX (FQDN), make sure that there is no other 3CX with this FQDN, if yes, please power off the server.
Make sure the license does not contain a FDQN (release if needed).
Then setup a 3cx with the FQDN using an XML file, and the 3CX will register in the correct way.

If you want to move server, and keep all the same, just full backup, shut down server, setup new server and restore full backup, all will be good again. With same license same FQDN and another WAN IP.

As mentioned, only use the NFR for own use and testing, never for a customer.
Meaning the FQDN should never chage again on the NFR

I do think this should be 'The golden rules' to work with, please correct me if wrong (so many setup's, so many options).
And if any problems with license, contact 3CX directly.

Thats exactly what i want! I want to use our NFR for our PBX!

Im not stupid and want´s to use the NFR for an Customer!

We are also no new Dealer, we are an 3CX Partner since 10 Years!

Hello LibertyX,

I sorry my colleage in telecom!

Please try to follow the rule's in setting up the server with your FQDN.
Question 1: do you have an XML file for setting up a 3CX (any 3cx XML file can be used, also from another 3CX)
Please edit this (notepad) with the correct details as license, FQDN, contact, email, etc.
Use this for setting up the 3CX server as mentioned, meaning a clean setup (no backup).
I do think this will move you in the correct way.
