Implemented 3CX SBC Status in Admin GUI

Especially with the emphasis on hosted installations, I forsee many SBC's being deployed, either hardware (Pi) or software on Windows clients. Rather than depend on the "Lost registration" notification per extension, Is it possible to treat the SBC similar to a trunk as for as visibility and notifications go? i.e. a new line item under the System Status or maybe show up in the Bridge section. The big difficulty in my mind is if 3CX tracks the SBCs differently from a 3CXPhone tunnel.

As it sits right now the only method of monitoring is status notification by extension, and that has the potential to generate mass amounts of email traffic.

I would love if the SBC could also monitor the quality of the connection --- even if just a simple PING or some latency check between 3cx server and SBC.

If you guys could look at adding some sort of reverse SSH tunneling or some other way of dropping to a console on the Pi's like you can from the dashboard in Linux that would be great as well.

+1, an SBC status feature in the admin gui would be very helpful. Something that shows the tunnel status and how many phones are active through each SBC. Future consideration for SBC load balancing and assignment options would be awesome as well (for deployments with multiple SBCs in the same location ie. 100+ set deployments).

We need this feature, at least something in the dashboard to show if an SBC is "live". In the meantime could you possibly enhance the "service 3cxsbc status" command in the PI to include if the connection is live as well as if the service is running, or add a new query that tells us if the connection is live.

At the moment when there is an issue we need to rule out "everything else", and then we can assume that the issue is with the SBC. e.g. we have a site that uses a cloud instance of 3CX, a SBC and DECT phones. The DECT phones are turning out to be not to reliable, but when things go wrong it takes to long to find out if it is the dedicated internet connection, the handsets, the base station, the 3cx or the SBC. About 50% of the time it has been the SBC so far, but a way to check if the connection is live would speed up the troubleshooting process.

This forum seems to be promising something that is never coming, how about an actual timeline, or a little progress?

A few thoughts/features for this thinking out loud....perhaps some re-sellers can add to/remove from this list based on their experiences?

• Remote reboot of pi
• Status alerts (if pi/sbc is down trigger alert/alarm)
• SSH to pi
• MOS score measured by pi (something like what VoIP spear does, simple/clean)
• Alert triggering if MOS falls below a certain amount over a certain amount of time
• A red ! if pi is out of date
• Remote updating of pi software via management console (maybe im dreaming here?)
• A red ! if there are too many extensions assigned to pi
• A failover inbound route if PBX cant reach the pi (maybe im dreaming here again too...)
• GUI provisioning/config of a SBC
• GUI based logging for SBC
• A red ! if pi is not using a encrypted tunnel

From a reliability standpoint, the border controller is the only "somewhat weak" link in the incredibly reliable 3CX platform. I get the VPN arguments, localizing PBXs, ECT ECT. However it would be reasonable to assume that more re-sellers are taking the same approach we are (hosted PBX, rasp pi SBC). This approach is very reliable, scale-able, and economical.

The SBC approach allows our sales reps to position and explain a product to a client without having to get very deep into networking variables or needing to have a good grasp on how networking works. This is gold. This lowers cost and translates to a higher close rate. Further more our engineers are able to eliminate fail-points for installers which makes actual installations substantially easier when leveraging the SBC approach.

The only fear that remains that the SBC is a very "set and forget" item which has admittedly held up much better than anyone at our team has predicted (kudos 3CX ever since the December SBC update! Wohoo!). However, adding the features discussed here and in this thread will certainly bring a very significant value add to what is truly the industries leader in PBX software.

Another great feature would be to support DHCP for the SBC so its not sure a pain when someone at a small branch throws in a new router with no thought about the IP address range and everything comes unstuck.

While not a great solution, and it lacks any integration with 3CX. I have been able to get remote access to the SBC from a Linux 3CX Server using reverse SSH. I followed this guide if anyone is interested.
