Running 16.0.910
X5S Firmware 1.12.2
Fanvil Template version - 89557 - Not Custom

I have deleted the phone from the extension, factory reset the phone, then added back to the extension. Problem persists.

I just saw an extra empty entry in the BLF fields that shouldn't have been there, so I deleted that and reprovisioned. Since it's periodic I don't know if that has fixed the issue, but seems weird in any case.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Rick Stout

Hi Rick,

Unknown, but if you reset and reprovisioned the phone and it shows everything correctly then there is no reason to be alarmed.

Did you perhaps send the upgrade command more than once?

We have the same issue with firmware 1.12.2. We have downgraded all the phones to 1.10.8 and everything works fine again.

We have the same issue with our X6's, hopefully there will be a fixed firmware update soon?

Same here all worked fine until the update 1.12.2 now my customers X6 phones freeze up periodically, no dial tone, no BLF will work and the phone has to be reset. This has been a NIGHTMARE I have been working with Fanvil for the last 4 days and they said everything looks fine SMH Today I will switch to Yealink phones and see if problem goes away....OH yeah I downgraded (1.10.8) my phones and they STILL FREEZE UP!

Hi @grcomm

If the devices freeze on both firmware editions perhaps the issue is elsewhere like on the network?

Perhaps if PoE they don't receive enough wattage?

Maybe connect one on an isolated network and provision it via STUN, see if it will stay alive even when the rest freeze. But ensure you are on the v16U2 and using default templates and latest 3CX firmware.

John thank you for the response Im using v16.0.3.525 and let me say the phones worked perfect for 3 months straight 0 issues and then one dark night (lol) I seen an update was needed via 3cx admin panel so I went for it. Next day customer called and the fun began. I'm using the same phones at my office which were updated as well and wouldn't you know mine froze too (v16.0.2.910).

I never touched the "template" Im assuming its the default : <model ua="Fanvil X6" defaultlogo="X6.bmp" logowidth="480" logoheight="272" logobitdepth="24">Fanvil X6</model>

Ok since you are not on a stable release (you are on an alpha right now) I think the best thing to do especially for the customer is return them to 16.0.2.910 and the management console will give you the correct firmware for that version.

If that is not possible, at least upgrade them to 16.0.3.671 (current beta and newer than what you have now) which is less downtime and can happen quicker. You might have to reset/reprovision the phones afterwards to ensure the template updates will take place (v91107)

Will give it a shot Thanks again!

I'm still seeing this on the X5S's and I just added two brand new X6's with the same problem.

And I'm not running the alpha.

After updating to v16.0.3.671 the phones still freeze so tomorrow I'm going to run a log capture of the phones and send in to Fanvil. I did throw a few Yealinks in temporarily and they work great 0 issues in 3 days....I will post an update after.

Hi Rick,

Nevermind any of the above, this message appears on the phones as soon as they are re-provisioned.

They reprovision themselves every 24 hours, so if you reboot them at midnight then nobody will ever see this message during office hours

OK John I think I have it narrowed down to the "click to call" feature and my Fanvil X6. After less than 10 outgoing call attempts using click to call the phone freezes. I've done this on 2 different 3cx instances and same result. I'm updated to 16.0.3.676 and am using template 91549. Have not heard back from Fanvil yet. I did send those log files yesterday, will keep you updated..

This is happening multiple times a day. It has nothing to do with re-provisioning. Unless 3CX is reprovisioning the phones multiple times a day.

@grcomm We have also confirmed the issue on an X5S, and have seen it resolved by Fanvil in a beta firmware update. They will release an update for all affected models, once it's ready it will show up in your updates section. No ETA yet so in case a phone freezes you will have to reboot it manually in the meantime (and also reboot the phones before the firmware upgrade when the time comes).

The version on their website is not the same as the 3CX ROM, even if the version is exactly the same 1.12.2

I would recommend to keep the 3CX version to avoid any other compatibility issues.

The management console will probably not be aware that you have a different rom.

I believe my thread was hijacked because his issue was not the same as mine. We are still getting the "Upgrade Finished" on the X5S's and X6's periodically throughout the day. This is not relating to 24 hour reprovisioning.

Yes, I can confirm the issue is also happening on X210, every 24 hours "Upgrade Finished" flashes up briefly.

My working theory (as the Fanvil template includes a 24 hours static provisioning request) is that this has always been happening in the background, but on the new firmware there are visual disturbances, or maybe previous phone firmware first checked if anything has changed before attempting to reprovision.

Either way I think it's Fanvil firmware and not the 3CX upgrade causing the issue.

Dave.
