Hi there-

I have a customer who wants indefinite call recording retention... yeah... great idea, right?

How do you approach a situation where someone is unrealistic and wants unlimited call recording retention? Build a monster system with terabytes of storage?

Is there a way to change the call recording location in 3CX to store call recordings to a cloud storage provider such as Google Cloud?

Nop, but you can archive on google cloud and they're still accessible within the console and webclient. Search for "3cx remote archiving".

Archiving is your solution, make sure it's set up from the get go, as transferring a large amount later will take a lot of time

A very large hard drive is also a possible solution, it can be mirrored or backed up and can also be replaced with a bigger one in the future if you shut down the PBX and copy the contents of the current drive to the new one before replacing.

You might also want to take a look at our 3CX Recording Manager. We also provide an archiving system, which includes a separate retention policy for archives... so if indefinite really means something like 5 - 15 years, we can automatically delete those really old archives too.

We also provide a security hash for recordings, the ability to add notes, include agent scoring, filter what recordings can be viewed based on manager rights, full recording transcriptions, and offer a separate web interface so you do not have to give 3CX console access, and much more.
