Hi,

I was wondering if it's possible to use application in a remote session (RDP) to control a local application in order to receive calls. In the old application you used to be able to to select the other application in the device list. In the new version this is not present. There is only one mention of the application. We have a few clients that work with RDP and used this feature and would like to keep using it if possible. See the attachment picture for context.

Hi @Wesley Telecomlijn,

At the time of writing this, you cannot control the Desktop App from another app I'm afraid. The legacy Windows app can still be used for the time being though.

Hi,

Thanks for you answer, Do you know if this will be added in the future?
Btw do you know if I can use the TAPI plugin for this?

For the Desktop App? No. For the legacy Windows Client? yes it should work.
Do you where I need to install the TAPI. Do I need to install it on the local PC or in the RDP or both?
Do i also need to install the 3CX Windows application (V16) on the local PC or also at the RDP?

Hi @Wesley Telecomlijn,

Okay let me clarify some things:
  1. The Desktop App, and the Legacy Windows Client are two different apps. You can use the Legacy App without needing TAPI to locally receive calls made on a Web Client on the RDP session.
  2. This works in v18U3 but may well not work forever.
So all you'd need to do is install the Windows Client on your Local Machine and on your RDP session, log in to the Web Client, you can then choose to use CTI to control the Windows Client.

Hi there!

I would like to ask if there are plans to create a 3CX plugin (Multi-TAPI) that will work properly with the new 3CX Desktop App (v.18).

With regards,
Angelos Pitsos

Hi @apitsos,

I'm not able to confirm that there won't be one with certainty, but so far as I know, there aren't currently any plans on the roadmap to make a v18 TAPI plugin. The 3CX Desktop App is based on ELECTRON, not C/C#. You can still use the legacy Windows Client with TAPI though.
