Hi, I have a problem joining conferences using the external number. When I create a conference I receive an email, as always, with the invite and the conference ID. Now the problem is that when I call the external number on the email the phone rings instead of answering the "conference robot" (the one that asks you to input the conference ID). Under Settings > Conferencing > Audio > Add DID, there is the phone number that I want to use for the conferences. Also in Inbound Rules, the phone number it routes to "Extension" > 700 and is also the top one. I'm using 3CX version 15.5.15502.6

Thank you.

P.S. I'm not a native English speaker, I apologize for the mistakes that I may have done.

I would check the activity log, and see what number is being passed to 3CX.

On the inbound rule, you may have to adjust or even use * as wildcards (number is 0111 12345678 , inbound rule would be *2345678)

We are guessing your have different numbers for your main number and the conference system

Hello @mafaldo

As mentioned by @Saqqara the issue is probably that the number coming in from the provider does not match the format of your DID. Is the phone that is ringing the one that is under the main trunk number destination? If so then the PBX is routing the call to the main trunk number as the number does not match the DID number. Check the activity log and see what number format is used by the provider and adjust your DID to match that format.

In the activity log I see this:
Call(C:1937): Call to <sip:[email protected]:5060> has failed; Cause: 487 Request Terminated/INVITE from 127.0.0.1:5080
And also under that there is a lot of "Authentication failed for AuthFail Recv Req REGISTER from", I don't know if it is relevant because there is no phone number anywhere.
I tried editing the trunk adding * as wildcards but with no luck.

@YiannisH_3CX yes the number is under the main trunk, but also the number that will be used for the conferences is under the same trunk (we have a trunk with multiple DID). Also where I will see the number format used by the provider? Because in the activity log I see instead of phone numbers things like: <sip:[email protected]:5060> which resembles some sort of address.

Thanks

You mentioned that when you call the conference number the phone rings. Which phone rings? Is that phone the destination of the main trunk number?
Can you give as an example on how you edited the numbers by adding a "*" as wildcard?

Yes it rings the phone destination of the main trunk. So I had before something like +44(12)1234567 and I modified like this *1234567.

Thanks

What provider are you using? Is it a supported provider? I suspect that the inbound parameters of the trunk are not setup correctly and the provider is sending the number to a different SIP field while the PBX is looking for the number on a different SIP field.
If you are familiar with wireshark then you can run a capture while performing an inbound call and see what SIP field the provider is using to send the number.

I'm using a provider that's not supported. The inbound parameters are setted as default ("CalledNum" To : User Part, "CallerName" From : Display Name, "CallerNum" From : User Part). I don't have a direct access to the server that's hosting 3CX but I can use the Phone System Management Console from web. I will try a capture from the Activity Log.

Thank you for your patience

The settings you have are the most common settings however that does not mean that the provider is using the same. Try to capture a call and let us know of the results.

Okay, I think I'm making progress. Now I captured the SIP INVITE and the number that I called is in the field "X-voipnow-did". Now how can I map the "CalledNum" field to that?

The number is only in that field? If yes then you cannot map as "X" sip fields as these are unique to each provider and they are ignored by 3CX.

Yes, it seems like that, where the field should be instead? Maybe I've missed something.

The called number is usually under the To: sip field or in the Request-Line: sip field.

In the "To" field I have "sip:0162*[email protected]:5060", I thought that the 0162 might be an identifier for the DID but instead is the same no matter what number I call. And I don't have a Request-Line field, so no luck with that. I think now the only way is to ask the provider if they can modify something.
Thank you all for the support but I think there is nothing that can be done from 3CX.

Let us know if you find a solution to the issue.

I finally solved the issue. I asked the provider and they added the fields P-Asserted-Identity and P-Preferred-Identity. I didn't have to modify anything, 3CX just took the fields with the default mappings.

Glad to see the issue has been resolved and thank you for updating the thread with your solution.
