Custom CRM Template Search Scenarios

I've been able to get a custom crm template working for CID lookup as well as basic search functionality. My issue is that my API only has firstname, lastname, email, etc.... and doesn't have a full name or freestyle search endpoint. So, if I search contacts and type in a first name results begin to appear (but not specific enough results), but as i put a space and beginning typing lastname it stops returning any results.

Presumably, "first last" doesn't match any first names or last names so nothing comes back. Can I work around this in the template? I've tried what I could think for splitting the searchtext and running multiple passes but haven't been able to get anything to work. I'm on a hosted 3cx so I don't have a way that I know of to look under the hood and see what's going on.

Is there a way to handle this to make the search functionality more usable?

Create multiple scenarios all starting with "SearchContacts_" and do a search on one field per scenario. Results will be merged and 3CX does the splitting IIRC. If your API is custom, you can always add a column in your database for full name as well.
