I'm trying to update from 16.0.5.619 to version 16.0.5.622, but it fails with the following message:

----
Reading package lists...
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock directory /var/lib/apt/lists/
---

Does anyone know how to fix this issue so i can update?

I'm using the Debian ISO image.

That's usually when another APT process is running. Perhaps a crashed update.

Have you tried rebooting the system and attempting the update again?

Hi @spaan,

Following up, are you still receiving this issue? Did you follow @Frederick Marcoux's advice and reboot then try again?

Hi @Frederick Marcoux & @VasilisV_3CX

I have just rebooted the system and it somewhat helped.
The error changed.

Now i have the following error:

But still can't update.

You will need 2 things here the first is to overcome the issue above and the next will be needed from sp6 to sp7.

For the salt stack repo issue, use this command:
Code:
wget -O - https://downloads.3cx.com/downloads/misc/debianpatches/9/16/0/5/20200619-os-update.sh | bash

Then try the update again, then once you update and need to go from sp 6 to sp7 use the following commands one line at a time:

Code:
apt update

wget http://security.debian.org/debian-security/pool/updates/main/o/openexr/libopenexr22_2.2.0-11+deb9u4_amd64.deb

apt install libilmbase12

apt install ./libopenexr22_2.2.0-11+deb9u4_amd64.deb

apt install libfreeimage3

apt install 3cxpbx=16.0.7.1078

Once updated to sp7 update to sp8 as normal.

We had to do this last week on a customer's system too. It does work if it's done properly.

E: The method driver /usr/lib/apt/methods/https could not be found.

Should i just try to run the rest of the commands?

Never mind. Just run the apt update from the commandline and it provided the fix. Now trying to update further. I will report the result or any other errors.

Now running version 18.0.237.
So after some initial hickups everything updated from the GUI.

Thanks for the help!

You are welcome, glad this is now updated.
