Hey Guys,

So basically we have a set of extensions that we would ideally want to allow external calling from. However currently whenever we turn off: Options > Restrictions > Disable External Calls. It turns back on at random on some extensions.

Was wondering if anyone has seen this sort of thing before. Or perhaps if that option is able to be influenced by other settings in the pbx that would allow it to be switched like that.

Cheers

Under PBX settings there is a setting to automatically disable outbound calls outside of office hours.

Hey, cheers for the suggestion, but this option is turned off for all the extensions already. And doesn't seem to be related to office hours as to when the 'Block External Calls' option is switched on or off

Hello @NoahD

I have never seen this before to be honest and other that the setting @cobaltit mentioned i cannot think of any option that would affect this. Does anyone else have access to the management console?

Another company has access to the API and uses it to change the first/last name of the extensions to match the person staying in the room. They have told us previously that they are not changing this setting, but we can ask them to check again if you can't imagine many other ways it would be affected.

Thanks for solving the mystery.

Hotel services can (does) disable external calls when no one is checked into a room. This is by design.

However your 3rd party is doing updates I suspect they are following a standard check-in / check-out call that 3CX recognizes and respects.

Since you are at a hotel (or hotel like), can you look at this thread and see if you are also affected?

Thanks for that advice @SweetAction

We don't normally work with hotels, so don't normally get that issue. Also in regards to the post you referred. Our hotel requested that we disable voicemail for rooms entirely so we have not experienced that issue, hope it gets sorted soon though

BTW, this should be easy to test (to make sure it's the 3rd party hook.
Verify a checked in room is calls enabled.
Have the room name be removed
See if calls are disabled
Have a room name added
See if calls are enabled.
