I'm testing the new Beta Messaging feature with Flowroute. I receive the following error when I run the "TEST":

The communication with the PBX timed out. Please check the connectivity status of the PBX, verify that all necessary ports are open and that the firewall check is successful.

What ports are "necessary" for this feature?

5001 by default. Whatever your SSL port is.

Make sure your SSL cert contains the intermediate cert.

Thanks. So I assume you mean the SSL cert on my 3CX server? How would I even check that ? It's a Linux version.

The KB linked above has a URL for an ssl checker. Yes, the cert on the 3CX server.

Yep - I'm troubleshooting now. So I've opened port 443 and it is still not working. I can see the SMS message transit OUT of Flowroute towards out 3CX box.

And in Flowroute - you have to designate a URL on the 3CX box - what Flowroute refers to as a "callback" address. Do you happen to know what that URL would be for 3CX ? Is it just domain name:5001 ?

You will need the callback URL. It actually points to 3CX services right now, as all messages get relayed through there. It will be on the setup page in 3cx and look something like

https://messaging.3cx.com/v1/webhook/<STRING1>flowroute/sms/<STRING2>

where string1 and string2 are alpha numeric strings

The easy way to SSL is to use the 3CX FQDN... then you don't have to worry about the intermediate.

Yep - we use the 3CX FQDN so that is not our problem. I believe my issue is our firewall. We are NOT passing the Full Cone test in the firewall checker in the 3CX console. I'm having my firewall engineer resolve that and will report back next week.

@amirsafayan it is very important for the HTTPS port of the PBX to be accessible from outside the network. Make sure you can access the Management Console from outside the network as a test.

Checking now.

The management console if accessible from outside the network. I just tested.

Also, we resolved the full cone nat firewall check failure we were experiencing and we are still unable to process INBOUND SMS messages. Outbound SMS message flow instantly.

Hi - After working on this for several days, it turned out to be the SOURCE IP address restriction on our INBOUND firewall ACL. We only allow US and Canada and once we opened it up for testing, the Messaging profile "test" succeeded and INBOUND SMS started to flow.
