Hi,

We have 13 GrandStream GRP-2613 phones correctly provisioned with 3CX extensions but so far we are experiencing some small delays, cuts and other problems. The first thing I noticed was that in the "Phones" menu they all appear in red an error message that says "Firmware not supported 1.0.5.15".

The thing is, when I select all the phones and click the "+firmware" button it says that the "1.0.5.33" version is available, however when I click on "Accept" it says:

"A Firmware update request has been sent to the phone (s). The IP phones will download the Firmware from 3CX, upload it, and then reboot. This process may take a few minutes depending on the Phone and the size of the Firmware."

But nothing happens from there, I dont see anything on the phones nor the event log.

- ¿Any clues on how to troubleshoot this?
- ¿Is manual updating my only option?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Hi Eloy,

Once you deploy the firmware, the phones should attempt to upgrade within a minute or so.

They also show a message on the screen that a new firmware has been found and will proceed to update.

This of course is when you are using our supported method of provisioning (plug and play, with no custom templates),

So were they provisioned using a supported method and does the message even appear on the screens?

Hi John,

I was wrong on my first post, theres a cloud appearing in the top of the phone's screen with an arrow pointing downwards, it stays there for over a minute and it disappears without nothing happening. I tried to manually reboot the phone, also without luck.

About the provisioning method, I used this 3CX official guide and had no issues at all, the phones are provisioned by STUN without any custom template, the only thing I changed was the phone's display language and the call forwarding method, using the 3CX "Prone privisioning" tab.

Regards

Hi Eloy,

That should be fine then. Although since you are using STUN, the phone will attempt to download the firmware from your PBX over the internet which could be an issue if too many phones try at the same time (depending on the connection at the phones site, and the connection the PBX has)

You should factory reset only one phone, and provision it exactly as this alternate guide describes:
https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/grandstream-grp26-series/

The phone should provision, and it will shortly find the new firmware you have already selected to deploy, and should proceed to upgrade itself. Make sure you go through all the steps from the beginning, and in the provisioning section, pay attention especially to the part titled: "Remote phones: Provision via RPS server"
