Hi,

I just bought a bunch of gxp1760 phones. Most were fine but 2 so far came with firmware version 1.0.0.23. This version doesn't have the manual firmware update options that are typically in the web interface. I've tried everything I can think of to update them, grandstream firmware http site, my 3cx https site, and a number of other things with my last resort being a tftp server I set up on the lan with these phones. That also didn't work. The tftp server doesn't show any attempt to connect by the phones. I installed tftp on my raspberry pi sbc and downloaded the firmware just fine on that so I know the tftp server is good and accessible.

Has anyone seen this issue before or know how to get around it? These things are pretty useless with this firmware.

Thanks,
Bronston

So you've tried to upgrade directly from grandstream? They have a public firmware site.

Hello @Bronston Hansen

Haven't come across this firmware before so you might need to contact Grandstream for this. Are you able to provision the phones to 3CX with this firmware? If you are able to then perhaps you can try updating them through 3CX.

Hi,

@cobaltit Yeah I tried that as well.

@YiannisH_3CX No they won't provision. I manually configured the sip info at one point and did get one to register but no it won't provision from 3CX at all.

Thanks,
Bronston

You should go to the GS website and Support and Firmware. Look for the firmware for the phone and read the release notes. Sometime, you must follow a certain path to get from an early version to current and if very old, the firmware versions to do so may not be readily available which will then call for you to submit a ticket to GS support.

Have you tried being patient? I've seen the GS phones take upwards of 30 minutes to retrieve the firmware and process it when updating directly. And just to confirm you are using firmware.grandstream.com via HTTP and not the old URL which that might have pre-configured?

In that case you will need to consult with Grandstream in what is the best way to update the phones to the current firmware.

Yeah I had a similar thought. I couldn't find anything in any of the release notes. Actually the firmware version that is on these isn't even referenced in the documents I could find but there was nothing that seemed relevant on the other's either.

I've had one configured to the new grandstream firmware address for about 48 hours, the other configured to my 3CX server. Nothing has changed.

Yeah that sounds like the only option at this point.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Please let us know of the solution if you find one so that other users with the same issue can benefit.

You bet, I will.
