Just out of curiosity, if I configure a SIP trunk I provide a 'default' destination on the first tab of the trunk configuration. I also have to give the main number on this first tab. However, I also see the same number available if I create a new Incoming rule, which one takes precedence and what's best practice ? Is the destination on 'tab 1' a sort of 'wildcard / catch-all' destination ? Or is it really linked to that single DID ? And what happens if I create _also_ an inbound rule for that DID ?

The trunk rule is a catch-all so technically you only need to add inbound rules for additional DIDs. I typically will route the main number as an inbound rule just to have complete visibility of all inbound call routing.

It will also depend on whether you have (have paid for) actual DID service on the trunk. The DID information is sent in a different field from Caller ID, so if you do have a DID number come in, it can be routed using a rule off to a specific extension. If no DID information is sent (when main number called perhaps?) , then the call should follow the default route.

Hello @wmeter

If you create an Inbound rule using the main trunk number then the 2 are connected. If you do a change under the main trunk number then the Inbound rule is also affected and vice versa.
