Unsupported Interconnecting 3CX with Freeswitch

Hello,

I would like to connect 3CX with FreeSWITCH (FS) in order to route calls to/from the following directions:
1. 3CX -> FS -> SIP TRUNK
2. SIP TRUNK -> FS -> 3CX

In https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/interconnecting-3cx-with-freeswitch.55408/ it is mentioned that the best way for doing this is to create a master bridge on 3CX and a SIP trunk on FS. Another one solution is to create an extension in FS and connect to it from 3CX through a SIP trunk. However, in the post, the second solution is not recommended. What is the reason for this ?

If the SIP Trunk you're using is from a 3CX Supported Provider then I recommend you skip using FS altogether so that you end up with a fully 3CX supported configuration. If it is not a 3CX Supported Provider then setting FS as a generic SIP Trunk is as good as configuring an unsupported provider in 3CX. That said, we cannot provide specific information or assistance for setting this up but I'd recommend looking into setting it up as a generic sip trunk instead of a bridge.

It all of course depends on what exactly you're trying to do.

Well, the reason behind using FS in the middle is because we have some special features there for processing CDRs and recordings.
