iPhone app on mobile data

I’m just in the process of setting up the PBX on a raspberry pi. Everything works as expected on the local network.
But when connected to mobile data (and switched WiFi off) the 3CX app shows that I’m not connected to the PBX (as I expected and is how I prefer it to be), but when place a call to my extension the call still comes through to me, but when attempt to answer the call there’s no audio and the caller still hears ringtone at their end.

I tried setting the app so it only worked on WiFi in the hope this would stop the calls coming through but this didn’t stop the calls.

I know as a workaround I can set my extension to away before I’m not in WiFi but surely there must be a way to prevent the calls going out to the internet ?


Any suggestions?

I think the PUSH service let's the phone system believe that your extension is still registered. But it clearly isn't. I think the only 2 ways to solve is to either change your status (as you already figured out) or shut down the mobile app completly.

You need to open your ports on your firewall. By default the app will rely on 5001 and 5090 (for HTTPS and Tunnel)

I will look at opening up those ports on the router, ideally I wanted to have no access at all from external networks, that’s why I’m confused about why the notifications get passed through but not the audio when the ports haven’t been opened up on the router

That will not be possible, if your goal is to use the apps outside of your LAN.

The PUSH message was sent out because it is an outgoing connection from a random TCP port.

The tunnel connection needs to be forwarded though, as the mobile app will try to contact you there first when connecting to pick up it's call. This explains why the phone rang but you could not connect for audio

You can't make the app not work only outside. You can make it not work at all tho.

That does make sense about needing to open up the ports and about using a random port for the push notification. It does seem my original thought of setting status to away while not on the home network is the best solution

That’s what I’d like to achieve, for it to work only on my internal network, but as that doesn’t seem possible I’ll stick to marking status as away when not on internal network as a workaround

If you don't want to receive calls when outside, you need to choose a status setting the push off.
