Good Evening,

Informational Only: Resolution below

Conclusion: Check the provisioning server on the phone if you can remote on.

We have had a recent issue that may seem novice to some but as someone new to 3CX & Telephony I though I would share:

We use a single provider for our phones and one of the services they offer is an automatic firmware update when the phone registers against and SBC.

At this point I would like to say the provider is excellent.

Back Story: The provider has phones with an outdated firmware version so when we came to provision them they where getting the Fanvil X5 firmware instead of the Fanvil X3S Firmware. This meant we needed to FTP the phone and upload the correct firmware taking time. So we went with their auto update service (free).

The problem arose when we split our PBX, for the sake of this Company 1 and Company 2.

Why: Company 1 gets 30 calls an hour per day. company 2 gets 300 calls in the morning and a handful later in the afternoon (any advice on how to handle this would be great).

We created the new PBX through PBX express and everything was working fine. The phones registered against the SBC and everything was showing completed for the migration. Could take incoming calls, could make outgoing calls! So I thought the calls placed to outside was from a soft phone instead of hard phone as no access to site. Massive oversight!

So after many hours of checking, we factory reset a phone and before it managed to connect to the supplier company website we saw the issue.

If auto provisioning on a Suppliers behalf happens then firstly (as i understand) it looks at the manufactures provisioning service.

Correct for Company One:

Phone Boots -> Fanvil Pointer -> Supplier Company -> Firmware Update & Provisioning Link -> Company 1 Provisoning -> Company 1 Final Config -> Live

Incorrect for Company 2

Phone Boots -> Fanvil Pointer -> Supplier Company -> Firmware Update & Provisioning Link -> Company 1 Provisoning -> SBC -> Company 2 Final Config -> Live

Correct for Company 2

Phone Boots -> Fanvil Pointer -> Company 2 Provisioning -> Firmware Update -> Company 2 Final Config -> Live

I would like to know if I have this correct?

If anyone could PM me one the following subjects that would be great :) any help on how to handle massive ups and downs in call amounts would be much appreciated.

Hope this helps someone.

Kind regards
