When paging, using the 'Paging' ring strategy (not multicast), the phones beep loudly, but when we begin talking, the voice volume is not loud enough. Is it possible to force the phones to use a specific volume?

Or, is there an easy way to do it differently? Using multicast? Or connecting to the office audio system speakers?

If it is easy to set the phones to a specific volume for paging that would be the easiest fix. If not, then I am open to whatever the best practice is.

Thanks.

Probably a better question for the Yealink forums. There is no settings in 3CX itself to control volume. I'm guessing the beep is a factory function in the Yealink that only plays at one tone and then the actual page volume is dictated by the speakphone volume. Should that be the case you can make a custom template to set a higher speakphone volume but there's nothing stopping the users from lowering it. If you really want something you can control the volume of then you'd be looking for something not controlled by the end user like overhead paging.

I have asked the question on Yealink, no replies yet.

On a side note, I am trying multicast paging, but never messed with it before. I cannot find a detailed how-to for this with 3cx and Yealink. Anyone know where to get this?

Well multicast isn't going to solve the problem you are having with volume but otherwise it's pretty straightforward. Assuming you are on the latest version you just pick multicast as your page type and save. Then it's a matter of getting the Yealink to listen to that address. Currently you have to do a custom template (or manually enter the info) but there is a feature request to have this configurable via the phone provisioning.

Sorry I forgot that multicast paging provisioning was added in Update 4. Provided you have a supported phone and it is configured as Local Lan you will have an option to provision the multicast paging group to the phone

I have multicast set up now, and will reprovision the phones tonight, and test tomorrow.

In case it helps others, here are the links that helped me get it set up. If you have trouble with the multicast template settings not provisioning to the phone, compare your custom template to the original - I had to update my custom template with some changes before the phone would receive the multicast settings:
