We have two brand new Grandstream GRP2613 phones and I ran into a roadblock as it appears as though I can't provision it with either v15.5 SP6 or v16 (latest release).

I've checked 3CX and they even have a "guide" on how to provision GRP61XX phones, but it looks like that phone template isn't even available even if I try to manually add it. I also confirmed that it is running the supported firmware version, 1.0.3.6.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

have you check updates, for any phone templates updates

I just found this (https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/codecs/#h.f79ynpnfbe4v) as well. Now I need to find a "grandstream_grp.ph.xml" template to test with.
Those phones are supported by V16 U4 and up only. The template is included in this version so you should have no issues provisioning it. If you're on V15.5, I'd recommend you upgrade ASAP as it will become EOL soon.

Please provide the following informations:
  • 3CX Version, e.g. Standard Annual 16.0.2.910
  • Server OS, e.g. Debian 9 / Windows Server 2012 R2 / Raspberry Pi
  • Is the 3CX Server Hosted and where?
  • IP Phone Make/Model/Firmware
  • Provisioning Method: Local / VPN / STUN / SBC
  • Trunk Provider or Gateway Make/Model
  • Has the Firewall Checker passed: YES / NO
  • Are custom Phone Templates being used: YES / NO

I wonder if it will work if I copy the "grandstream_grp.ph.xml" file from a V16 U4 over to a V15.5 box. Just for the time being (for testing purposes).

I wouldn't. You won't have any support.

Why not upgrade?

Any idea on when 15.5 is going EOL?
Pretty soon I'd say. The legacy apps (current iOS and previous one of Android) are not gonna be available for long and the iOS one will stop working in April anyway since the old Push infrastructure is going offline in favor of a newer one that will be used by the upcoming iOS app.

The PBX itself will work but you already no longer have updates and such. If you have an annual license, simply upgrade. If you have a perpetual, then I'd recommend trading it in for an annual one to get the V16 updates.

We've got several deployed PBXs on 15.5 with perpetual licenses. I may need to jump on that bandwagon and get them upgraded.........

I strongly suggest you do! V16 has some awesome new features for your customers as well as improved security and performance. Also, the upcoming V16 U5 will bring some neat things like (limited) SMS support and new Office 365 APIs.

3CX support for previous versions is roughly 1 year from the release of the latest version. v16 came out 3/2019 so you have about a month. That being said any issues found in previous versions that are resolved in future versions will get you the 'upgrade and re-test' response.

@Frederick Marcoux - I upgraded our PBX to v16 U4 last night and confirmed that the GRP2613 was able to be provisioned. Thanks again!
