Hello,

Our office is wanting to implement a dial in system to alert employees about weather alerts or delays. How management is expecting it to work is that they can change a voicemail recording or greeting message when there is inclement weather.

So when the user dials into our 3cx number, they hear the message, and management wants it to where users can't leave actual voicemail messages, and they want it to be able to be simple enough to where it could be changed at least daily and potentially from the soft phone application.

Any thoughts or suggestions into a relatively simple way to try and achieve this?

Hello @Cory P

I would recommend using a Digital Receptionist so that users can call it and hear the message. You can set the "If no input within seconds:" value to 1 so after the message plays the digital receptionist ends the call. This will of course present the need to allow someone who is recording the messages to have management console access. Messages can be recorded directly from the Digital receptionists menu.
The second option is to use a voicemail greeting however you cannot disable the ability to record messages to the voicemail box. The benefit of the mailbox is that you can record greetings from the web client and have separate greetings based on the status of the extension.

or...use a voice-mailbox, but leave a long period of silence, at the end of the outgoing message, or you may even add a busy tone at the very end. This will indicate to the caller to hang up

We achieved this using a digital receptionist to take all calls into the building, and then changing the receptionist greeting message as needed. Our digital receptionist extension is 901 for example, and when anyone calls they get the digital receptionist first. The .wav file is changeable on that receptionist. For holidays, it plays a holiday greeting. For bad weather, we change it to the bad weather wav file.
