Hi all, new here and new to system.

I recently took over a 3CX system that uses Snom 300 devices.

The 3CX software was very old and never activated. It meant that you could only make 2(?) calls at the same time.

We bought a license, uninstalled the old software and installed the latest.

Now this system was designed to be run offline via our server. However we are able to connect it to the internet purely to get the system running.

The new phones are showing "Not Reg.". When we power down the phone and power it up again, it shows under "Phones". We select "Add Ext." and place the Ext. on. From here we have no idea what to do to get the phones working. We have 16 phones and the Ext numbers we need to use are printed out, so therest that. We haven't got anything else AFAIK.

We have exhausted a lot of Google search results, so hopefully I can tell you if I have already tried any suggestions.

Regards,

Connor

Have you read -

I would delete the config for the one of the phones within 3CX Management - Extension - Phone Provisioning - Select the Phone in 'Your Phone' and click on the X

Factory default the phone, update the firmware if required. After this assign the phone to the correct extension.

You need to have direct internet access for 3CX to be able to contact the licencing servers - it does not currently support proxy either, so this needs to be a permanent alteration.

Since this is an old system/phones etc I think you want to look at upgrading the phone firmware - I would doubt due to the age that this would be able to be performed automatically via the 3CX console either (which will be un-fortunate).

It may also (as suggested above) be worth resetting and re-provisioning, after the firmware has been applied. Again with all these points try with a single phone first.

Unfortunately a lot of manual work maybe required however once up to date you should find that admin requirements have been reduced considerably.

Hi, we have tried updating the firmware but we just don't have any luck. We located the download link and pasted that into the Phone's GUI field for firmware updates. It comes up with "SW" on the phone and I think it reboots, but it's still on the really old version.

Hi, we've had a chat and we are able to keep it connected to the internet for the duration that the phones are being used.

So if we bought new phones, do you think it would likely fix the issue?

One problem you will have going forward with these models is as you have identified is that they do sit on "End of Life (Firmware & Support Ended)" list: https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/

This does not mean necessarily that this is the root cause of your issue but to future-proof your system you might want to consider this - for example you can get a fully supported/preferred phone (such as a Grandstream GXP-1610 or Yealink) for a very good price currently.

Have you considered switching them all to the 3CX client/SIP phone ? this will save you buying new phones altogether - or at the very least act as a backstop in-between solving your issue or providing newer phones.

If you wish to continue solving your issue first confirm the firmware version you have updated to. As per the guide sent have you updated to version 8.7.5.48 ? there are most likely later versions available on the snom wiki however it needs to specifically be the above.

I also did not see in your response the status as to re-provisioning. Did you attempt this ? if not please re-set the phone entirely: https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/factory-reset-snom-300-320-260-370/

Re-attach to the network (they should still work for plug and play provisioning I would of thought) and re-provision. https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/configuring-ip-phones/

Hey, thanks for the replies. We're currently waiting for 142 Windows updates to install. I'll get back to you after attempting your solutions.

Hi,

You can keep your money into your pocket, because Snom300 will work fine with 3CX v15.5 sp6
I have several customers using a mix of Snom300, 320 and 760, all EoL, all running without issues.
But first of all upgrade the Snom’s to the supported firmware level.
Then reset the Snom’s to factory default.
Copy/paste the Provision link into the phone (WUI: Advanced > Update > Setting URL) and provisioning the phone.
Just as easy as that.

Hi,

We can't actually find version 8.7.5.48. Do you know where I can find it?
