System Configuration: 3CX v20 web client (PWA) with Yealink WH64 DECT headsets
Version: 3CX Enterprise SC96 (Prod), 3CX Enterprise SC4 (Lab)
Severity: Critical – impacts call handling and customer service

Nature and Scope of the Problem
Our organization is experiencing a system-critical error that not only affects individual employees but compromises our entire call distribution system. The problem manifests as spontaneous registration loss between Yealink WH64 DECT headsets and the 3CX v20 web client platform (progressive web application) during active operation.

Core Issue
Headsets unpredictably lose their system registration, resulting in immediate call loss for the affected user. However, the most serious consequence is that all incoming queue calls to the affected employee are automatically dropped after only 1 second, without the possibility of redirection to other available colleagues.

Technical Observations and System Configuration

Platform Specifications:
  • Platform: 3CX v20 web client (progressive web application)
  • Equipment: Yealink WH64 DECT headsets
  • Operating Systems: Windows 11 and macOS (problem is OS-agnostic)
  • Status: All components updated to latest versions
  • YUC software: Installed but does not start automatically and is therefore shut down when the problem occurs
Symptom Description:
  1. Registration loss: Headsets suddenly lose connection to the system without prior warnings
  2. Microphone failure: Audio recording ceases completely after registration loss
  3. Queue collapse: Incoming calls to affected employees drop after 1 second
  4. System blocking: Other employees cannot take over dropped calls in time

Deviation Analysis and Isolation Testing
Through systematic comparison, we have identified that the problem is specifically linked to the Yealink WH64 model. Identical installations with EPOS and Plantronics headsets function flawlessly under the same operating conditions, indicating a compatibility conflict between Yealink WH64's registration protocol and 3CX v20's web client architecture.

The lack of automatic startup of YUC software may be a significant factor in the problem, as this software functions as a communication bridge between the headset equipment and the 3CX platform.

Excluded factors:
  • User-related errors (employees do not switch between different headsets or workstations)
  • General system configuration problems (other headset brands function optimally)
  • OS-specific problems (errors consistently reproduced across platforms)

Operational Consequences and Organizational Impact

The problem creates significant operational challenges:
Customer Experience: Dropped calls result in frustrated customers and potential business losses
Employee Productivity: Necessary headset restarts interrupt workflow
System Stability: Unpredictable errors complicate capacity planning and resource allocation

Temporary Mitigation Measures
Currently, each error instance requires manual restart of the affected headset – a solution that only provides temporary stability and does not solve the root cause. This reactive approach is unsustainable in a production environment.

Broader Perspective: Systemic Problem Across Yealink WH Series
The problem is not isolated to the WH64 model. Similar symptoms are documented with Yealink WH62 headsets in 3CX community forums, where identical registration losses and microphone failures are reported, requiring either system restart or complete uninstallation/reinstallation to restore functionality.

This pattern supports the assessment that the problem stems from fundamental integration challenges between Yealink's DECT registration protocol and 3CX's v20 architecture rather than model-specific equipment errors.

Discussion Points for Reflection

Vendor Compatibility: How can we better evaluate equipment compatibility before system implementation?

Note:
We have begun the transition from EPOS to Yealink due to the lack of EPOS support in the 3CX v20 softphone, which is why we chose to switch to Yealink.
Subsequently, we have decided to phase out the softphone due to insufficient functionality, and therefore we are in the process of transitioning to a PWA.

@JIX IT can you replicate this on the webclient or is it strictly PWA?
Can we also have the exact version of the PBX you are running.

I have informed Yealink about your issue and awaiting a response.
In the meantime, could you kindly replicate the issue and collect Yealink USB Connect logs for us so I can send them to him?
You can do so by:
- Opening Yealink USB Connect
- Click on the device in question (in your case WH64)
- Click on Device Support
- Enable Real-Time Log
- Set Logging level to the highest

Once the issue is replicated, in that same screen click on Log file collection and save it locally.

When you have this in hand, please send me a Private message with the attached logs.


On a seperate note, if you click on the Gear icon in YUC, there is a check box labelled 'Launch application on PC startup.' Check if this improves it also from your end.

Good to know that we are not the only ones with problems with Yealink headsets. For us it's the WH62. The Yealink Connect software is always active for us, otherwise the call control via the button on the headset in the 3CX Windows app does not work (at least with the WH62). We have the problem that the WH62 repeatedly stop working. Sometimes everything works fine for a user for weeks, then it crashes several times a day. Quite inexplicable. When we deactive headset integration in 3CX Windows App, there are (almost?) no problems.
