You just need to uninstall the old one before installing the new one.

On Linux: apt purge 3cxpbx
On Windows: uninstall as usual

I did uninstall but the installer say an older version was still detected

Here's the best:

Spin up a new instance (or reinstall if physical machine) with the 3CX Debian ISO (if possible, if not, Debian 9 then install 3CX manually).

Then restore your backup to this one during installation. This way, no possible way for the installer to detect an older version.

Then delete your old instance. Don't forget to download your backup to your local PC.

I am using windows 10 cannot re install because I have a load of files

Alright. Before reinstalling, try deleting the "C:\ProgramData\3CX..." folder. Then try again.

If it doesn't work, you will have to use another machine or reinstall Windows.

My recommendation here: spin up a Lightsail instance at 5$/month. It should be enough if you are running this off your PC.

All delete c;\program files\3cx folder

Hi @towserthewolf

Did you reboot the machine yet?

Also note please that we highly recommend the machine be dedicated only to 3CX and not have other files or software running on it.

yes it has been rebooted after uninstall

Please note, the suggestion was to delete from C:\ProgramData not C:\Program Files

Run ccleaner

Could always check %appdata% and %localappdata%

Are you viewing hidden files?

what about c:\program files\common files

for a search of c for 3CX.

hidden files are shown, nothing in common files

If your computer was not dedicated to 3CX , perhaps it's quicker done to set a new debian machine and import your backup and forgot the previous one running windows.

Hi,

i would check the following:

Check Services for anything 3CX
Check C:\ProgramData\3CX
Check C:\Program Files\3CX Phone System
Check C:\Users\{Profile that had installed 3CX originally}\AppData\Roaming\3CX
Ensure in your Add/Remove programs list that 3CX products still appear (including PBX and SBC)
Check Registry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services anything 3CX (careful, regedit can cause permanent damage to your Windows installation)

Perhaps something went wrong during the uninstall and it was not successfully completed. I would follow @aws2p suggestion here, best to start fresh with a clean OS install if you can, to avoid any possibility of issues in the future. Make sure the machine is only dedicated to this purpose and that no other software is installed at all. Debian may be a better solution (resource-wise at least) if you are comfortable with Linux.
