What’s Cooking? Our Road Map

What made you exclude Twilio for the time being? I haven't seen any real data on this, but I would bet my bottom dollar that Twilio is by far the most widely supported SMS capable provider...

@Kevin@voxtelesys Right now to send sms you need either a flowroute or telnyx account. These will be the two vendors we will support initially. Its not bring your own vendor because there is no clear standard for sms sending. We will have just a limited set of vendors as its impossible to support a truck load of different APIs. The vendors we choose will have reasonable pricing with reliable APIs. We are working on our own rcs setup but probably will not make it into update 7.

@oguruma1218 Well we have seen the data on this. Twilio is very expensive and is certainly not the most widely supported capable provider.

@Nick Galea Will there be SMS vendors with reasonable pricing for Europe (Germany) too?

@kevin - can you contact your partner manager about this? I assume its an easy REST HTTP API similar to flowroute or telnyx

We do have a REST HTTP API, we even offered to configure the template ourselves but got no traction. That is why I was reaching out to see if the template would be available for BYOC.

@Nick Galea is it possible to sign up for beta testing SMS capability? Our company is very unhappy with our current PBX and looking to make a change. I am sold on 3CX, but no SMS is a deal breaker for us.
So your current PBX has SMS capability and yet you are looking to make a change?

@jacob.davis - beta will be out soon. our betas are public, once available you will be able to download them. Just follow our blog....

@autohaus - absolutely, its one of our main markets. Infact the supported providers also support germany for reasonable costs already

@kevin - yes please contact your partner manager about the requirements, the feature has not been released yet

Would love an updated roadmap now that we are at the end of this one.

Salve,

Are you working on a Microsoft Teams integration? This would be fantastic.

@oguruma1218 Well we have seen the data on this. Twilio is very expensive and is certainly not the most widely supported capable provider.

They aren't expensive for non-profits and have very generous donations. We have non-profit clients on Twilio because of this. I do believe they are generally widely used. Will they be supported in the next release?

Also, it looks like we need to add phone numbers that are dedicated to routing SMS. Will this be necessary in the next release? Or can we just add SMS onto existing extensions with DIDs?

Also 100 times upvote teh Teams integration as an important next step. Teams is quickly becoming a de facto standard in organizations. Having that integration would make an easy transition path for folks who have already standardized on Teams.

@sst_ekell @stefanprasch Re teams integration we are making steps towards it but no timeframes yet.

Yes we will add support for twilio. Also you dont have to add numbers dedicated to sms if you use hosted sms which for example telnyx supports.

Nick,
Can i ask you about SMS providers , You will integrate only certain providers into the system or let users add costume templates to add different SMS providers ?

@Knight! No, its not template driven. SMS is not like an "open standard" SIP trunk. There is no one standard (well SIP is not exactly standard either but at least there is an attempt to be). Most of the SIP trunk providers have different ways of handling it, if they even support it. You have to choose from the few that we have developed support for. For obvious reasons we cant support everybodies favorite SMS provider.

That said, RCS is on the way and this is something that will be free and integrated in 3CX, not requiring any provider or payment at all but part of subscription services.

After all this time, still not a single update on the reports section.
I'll repeat myself, but being able to trace agent's state history (presence) is mandatory in a serious CallCenter.
Also, not updates of Wallboard customization.

Hi there,

we are using 3CX now for several years and are very happy with it. At the moment we migrate the 3CX Windows Client to the 3CX Webclient and I would like to share some pro´s and con´s with you. I´ve also some questions about the road map:

What is the future for the 3CX Windows client? Will it be further developed or will the focus be entirely on the 3CX Web client?

Pro´s for the 3CX Webclient:
+ During incoming calls our CRM now detects the inbound number and open a database entry of the customer account. This is really great.
+ The integration of Jabra Headsets is working good. We´re using Evolve 40 with the USB adapter.
+ Click-to-Call with the 3CX WebClient Chrome Extension is working perfect.
+ Audio quality during inhouse calls is much better than with the 3CX Windows Client.

Con´s and Wishlist items:
- The page "People" is overloaded and seems confusing. Especially the colorful icons are confusing. We have now made do with it by providing a black and white image for each employee. It´s better now.
- A better sorting would be good. Or a representation in form of a list and not the individual tiles.
- If you want to transfer a call via the 3CX Webclient Chrome Extension and you want to make an attended call transfer, the caller will not hear music on hold at the beginning of the call. So I get a call in, click on transfer and a window appears where I can search for a name or number. But during this time there is no music on hold. This is the case with the 3CX Windows client, but not with the 3CX Webclient CE. It's a bit strange for the caller, so there is silence at that moment while I search for the right person.
We can solve this problem by pressing "Hold" so that the caller can hear Music On Hold. But when we forward the call we have another problem with the USB adapter on the Jabra headset. Because it flashes like crazy after the call. If you press then in the next call 2x hold, the flashing stops. Or you have to pull the USB plug.
- The overview of the switchboard could get better. It would be good if you could move the frames (Agents Status, List of active calls, ...) yourself and adjust their size. When I choose "All" I see the Agents in a list. But when I choose a single group, then I´ve the agent status on the right side of the window. Also a smaller list view would be great. Especially when you have 30-40 extensions in a single group for example.
- In the 3CX Webclient CE, I have no way to search for the phone number or name of a ring group or a call queue. We often use this option to reach whole teams.
- Change the size of the 3CX Webclient CE. It is possible to change the size of the window, but it is not possible to make the list of phone numbers larger, for example. The content of the window remains the same. It would be good if you can expand the list by dragging the window to the bottom.

That´s all for now. Thank you so much.

Kind Regards,
Markus

Can't happen. SMS is a consumption product so there would be variable billing and there's really no need for this. You are already using 3CX with some dial tone source that's not included in the subscription. You would use SMS the same way.

Thank you for the headsup @Knight! We will integrate RCS which will be free and soon most providers will support that. Re SMS feedback taken onboard but generally calling and sms we want to keep it separate billing. Also there are different telco laws in countries worldwide and we would end up in a legal swamp.

@Sergio Cadaveira We have a report with login and logout times for agents so i dont understand your comment.

@marcus K This is great feedback. We will be beefing up our webclient in the coming months in terms of usability.

@Nick Galea we need urgently an Audit Log to show all changes made in Admin Console by users with that rights.

Recently an extension has been deleted on my customer's PBX, and I could not prove WHO did this for my client, that was not good because my client is a hospital!
