@oguruma1218 - its a good point and we will definitely keep this in mind. First sms release will not be like this.... But we are planning to add facebook support so facebook users can send you a message.

So, how is this going to work on the user front end? Is the SMS UI going to be built in to the iOS/Android apps only?

It will be an extension of the chat UI in the Windows, Android, iOS and web clients...... Note it also includes RCS (free rich text messaging) which is rapidly gaining traction. This is an area we are building out massively in the coming months.....

So, then it sounds like this could be a viable solution to replacing SMS from our mobile providers, then no?

Will this be lacking any functionality that we current get from our cell phones built-in messaging capability?

I might have missed it, but is there any update when Raspberry PI 4 will be supported for 3CX and/or sbc?

Thanks
I would like an update on this as well please. It is getting hard to source the Pi 3b+ now in my location

@Nick Galea is it possible to sign up for beta testing SMS capability? Our company is very unhappy with our current PBX and looking to make a change. I am sold on 3CX, but no SMS is a deal breaker for us.

YES... we would love to sign up for beta testing on this too. We are using Twilio for SIP trunking if that helps, hoping integration into their SMS API should not be too difficult?

Since I've been a partner I don't know of any closed betas for 3CX so I imagine once it hits alpha it will be open for testing like the current alpha.

Is there any updates on SMS?

Is there more clarity on the 3CX v16 roadmap after Update 6 at this points? The original blogpost stops there and some items are on Maybe.

In other words: what can we expect in the coming months/year?

So after Update 6 comes Update 7. Since there are things on this list not out in 6....

Nothing I know of after this.

Indeed, time flies and we will need to make a new road map post soon. But first we are going to deliver update 7 and 8 which are mainly in regards to live chat, sms and then upgrade to Debian 10 and hosting / bulk management & monitoring improvements. Then we will draw out the road map for beyond that....

When can we expect a first beta of Update 7? My customers are asking for SMS ASAP and I told me it was coming (without any ETA of course).

Will this include an RCS setup charge?

Will the SMS API be available to bring your own vendor or will it be a set list of vendors?

@Kevin@voxtelesys Right now to send sms you need either a flowroute or telnyx account. These will be the two vendors we will support initially. Its not bring your own vendor because there is no clear standard for sms sending. We will have just a limited set of vendors as its impossible to support a truck load of different APIs. The vendors we choose will have reasonable pricing with reliable APIs. We are working on our own rcs setup but probably will not make it into update 7.

Will the Facebook Messenger/SMS get in U7? Even if RCS itself isn't there yet. Also, any news if Apple iMessage would be supported? Or if any other will be?

Telnyx and Flowroute are a good starting point. I'd add Bandwidth and VoIP.ms eventually as well. I think with these 4, everybody can make it work.

What is going to be the approval process, we are a preferred carrier with our own API and want to support our customers with SMS on the 3CX, we had to add a standalone SMS application for our now but they really want it in 3CX.

@kevin - can you contact your partner manager about this? I assume its an easy REST HTTP API similar to flowroute or telnyx

Hello Nick,
is it possible something change in way 3CX follow IDEAS forum ?
it seems to me, perhaps i'm wrong, this is just an idea box opened to allowed partners but not sure something is really expected from 3CX .
Some asked points are in ideas since 3 or 4 years old even they receive votes, and not sure if they will be in DEV a day, do we think this as a normal waiting time ?
Some ideas are with sticker" in consideration" what does this means exactly ?
Could it be more balanced DEV time between what 3CX wants to do alone and what partners ask in IDEAS ?

Without any link, is there some DEV improvement scheduled for 3cx console in future Road map ?
