Things seem a bit quiet on the MacOS client situation. Still feeling really let down here 3CX! We have 35+ people really struggling to work effectively using the webclient dialer. I see there is a MacOS native app being developed? What is the ETA on this? I also see a recommendation to use the PWA client, but the installation instructions look nothing like instructions, there is no download option.

A PWA has no download. Just open it in Chrome and click the button on the right of the address bar to "install 3cx" as a PWA. Also, the DesktopApp is coming soon for Mac.

The PWA does not support click to dial when installed in Google Chrome, a lot of our customers were using the Click to dial functionality in the 3CX app and they are now left without a working solution. Does anyone know if there are any workarounds to allow click to dial on a Mac via Google Chrome? Also when exactly is the new desktop Mac app being released please, days, weeks, months?

I think there are many people that would appreciate some official communication from 3CX on this issue, not just buried in forum posts. Certainly timescale for a proper solution to set customer expectations and allow decision making, 'soon' isn't good enough. We're seeing a genuine hit to productivity whilst being pestered to renew our maintenance - on a product that is currently not performing to expectation.

Hi!

For the time being all I can say is "we are working on it", there is no ETA we are comfortable sharing quite yet.

As mentioned here:
https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/v16-update-8a-beta-restore-old-extension.86395/post-407812
Hi,
The old extension will not work anymore in April ! I agree with @paulsummers : we need an official answer and roadmap from 3CX: Some of our clients will not be able to use their system in a few weeks, and I don't know what to answer to nex clients who use Mac...
Thanks,

@NickD_3CX can you contact me. We're having all sorts of problems here, having to roll out the 'rollback' chrome extension to all users will be further time consuming, especially if there is a new MacOS app coming very soon, would rather not have to do things twice. We could really just do with knowing if the new Mac app will be available before April. We need to renew maintenance in a few days and don't feel we can make that decision without this information from 3CX.

Hi,

For the time being there is no official announcement for the release date for the MacOS Desktop App, but I would suggest waiting until V18 U3 is released.

With the information that is released until now, right now in V18 U2 the best option for Mac users is the PWA App or the WebClient.

We're unable to use PWA due to a lack of click to dial. Any solution to this?

The webclient is very unreliable, calls answered but neither party can hear. Happening mainly on inbound. THe webclient is certainly not call centre capable.

Can you expand on what v18 U3 may contain that warrants your suggestion to wait.

Our maintenance expires in 10 days, can you suggest what we do with that.

As I have already mentioned, we are actively working on the MacOS Desktop App. If it is release ready by the time V18 U3 is ready, it *may* be released along with that. No promises or guarantees at this moment though.

As a 3CX employee, I am inclined to say "renew it".

@NickD_3CX I assume you understand the frustration, especially in light of our pending maintenance renewal - you've broken something, have not provided any timeline for when a solution will be available - yet want money for a 12-month renewal to ensure we continue to receive services. We need to know if we're heading to a plan B. 3CX might make slapdash decisions but I think most companies do like to plan. (with our productivity and tech time, this situation is already close to £6k in costs!)

I do understand your frustration, but I'm not sure what else you are asking from me right now, I have shared the information I have available right now.

As more information becomes available, we will announce it. For the time being there is not something more I can add.

Regarding the WebClient though, I will make a comment, we have many many users using it without a problem, so if you are having audio issues, I would suggest talking with your 3CX Partner to try and get to the bottom of this.
If there is an underlying problem causing this to the WebClient, there is a chance that even if the MacOS Desktop App comes out tomorrow, you will have the same problem, and THAT would be a real disappointment.

Hi,
I've read this thread and our company is also concerned by the lack of a native MacOS app. All the people in our company work with Macs and we are still using version 16 of 3CX, because it's the last version compatible with the MacOS app. We don't want to use the WebClient, as it would force us to have Google Chrome open all day long. But time flies and we know that we must decide in the next months if we continue with 3CX or switch to a competitive product. So we are eager to hear from 3CX when an app will be available.

I know it's not easy to announce something that is not ready yet (we are also developers !), but if your app is not available in November when updating to version 18 becomes mandatory, you could lose many Mac customers. And if you don't announce anything before May, many companies could search for another solution in advance, as they can't wait until the last moment to decide what to do.

Any idea when V18 U3 will be ready ? (I understand that there is no guarantee the MacOS app to be ready at the same time).

I think 3CX look at the percentage of Mac users in their usage logs when making business decisions, I've seen mention of 'only 5%'. The adoption of Mac in the workplace is growing exponentially as companies realise the lower cost of ownership, I see a recent report suggest MacOS now represent 23% of business laptop/desktop devices. I would imagine the Windows numbers are 'skewed' for 3CX by high numbers of low-cost, Windows based call centre terminals. Think it's worth considering the percentage of decision makers and management - the people with the buying power and purse strings - using MacOS devices is significantly higher! I don't think 3CX consider 5% of users will cause much reputation damage. We and other Mac based companies are really struggling with the lack of communication, I don't think 3CX really care!

My information says that V18 U3 Beta will be released very very shortly.

Will the V18 U3 Beta include the MacOS app?

This is a screenshot from a WebClient login from a Mac that will most likely be the U3 Beta build...

I just updated to V18 U3 Beta and then installed the MacOS Desktop app and then clicked the provision to connect to app but nothing happens.
