Using Sendgrid Natively With 3CX

Introduction

System email keeps important PBX messages moving, from alerts and reports to invitations, password resets and user welcome emails. The new SendGrid option in Version 20 Update 10 gives organizations that already use the service a clear, purpose-built setup path in 3CX.

Instead of starting from the generic Custom SMTP option, select SendGrid directly and provide the credentials for your own account. The existing email choices remain available, so you can continue using the provider that best fits your organization.

Set Up Your SendGrid Account

On SendGrid navigate to Settings > API Keys.

  • Direct link to the API Keys page.
  • Click Create API Key.
  • Add a name for the key, e.g. mypbx-3cx.
  • Set the permissions for your API Key according to your needs.

In the 3CX Admin Console, go to Admin > System > Email, then:

  • Open the Email Server list and select SendGrid.
  • Enter the sender email address, Username and your SendGrid API key.
  • Enable SSL/TLS.
  • Select TEST and, when the test succeeds, save the configuration.

Why Choose Your Own SendGrid Account?

Using your own account keeps SendGrid configuration and account management with your organization. It is a practical choice for teams that already use SendGrid or want their PBX system email routed through that provider.
