How to Configure Snom PA1+

Snom PA1+

Important

  • If the phone is used and has been connected to another PBX system, you have to reset it first. See how to do this below.
  • If it’s an old phone, you might have to upgrade its firmware to the latest 3CX supported version here.

Know Your Model

The Snom PA1+ is Snom's proven SIP announcement and public address system that has a few additional "tricks" up its sleeve. The integrated 6.5-watt high-performance amplifier can already provide large rooms with HD audio announcements or background music on a 600-ohm loudspeaker system; more power can be achieved by connecting a PA system. Costs in the region of $170.

Firmware Requirements

The phones will need a minimum firmware version of 10.1.175.16 or higher before connecting them to your 3CX system.

Step 1: Factory Reset Your Snom PA1+ Device

PA1+ Device Factory Reset

If the phone is used and has been connected to another PBX system, you have to reset it first:

  1. Press and hold the “IP/Reset” button for 10 seconds and then release.
  2. The PA1+ will restart and will be successfully reset.

Step 2: Add The Phone to the Extension

From the admin console in your web client:

  1. Go to Users and select the user you want to add a phone for.
  2. Click the IP Phone tab. Click Configure a phone to add a device.
  3. Now select your device model from the dropdown menu.
  4. Enter the MAC address without dashes or colons, and click Add phone.

Step 3: Router Phone, SBC or LAN?

  1. If 3CX is in the cloud, you must use a router phone or SBC.
  2. If 3CX is on-premises or self-hosted, you have an additional option “Local LAN/VPN”.
  3. Click Add Phone to save the device for this extension.

Step 4: Connect the Phone

3CX will now create provisioning files for the device and make these available on the provisioning URL. The phone must connect via LAN to this URL to retrieve its configuration information and authentication details. You have the following options:

  1. RPS - Connect the phone to the network within 14 days. If it is already connected, restart it. The phone will be configured automatically.
  2. PNP - If 3CX is on-premise or connected via SBC, you can connect the phone to the LAN and look for it in the PNP list (Admin Console > Phones > PNP Phones). Select and assign it to the extension you configured above. Your LAN network must be connected to the same local network as the SBC or 3CX system.

  1. Alternatively, you can log in to the phone's web UI and enter the URL manually. You can also use DHCP option 66.
