Recently-released v16 Update 5 Beta, adds Google Storage as a new target to keep your 3CX backups and archived recordings safe. Hosted on the Google Cloud Platform, this new option enables you to leverage cost-efficient and reliable online storage for your PBX. Simply use your Google Cloud account to create storage buckets and keep your data safe.

What's In-Store

Create a Google Storage bucket for 3CX backups and archived recordings.

Google Storage has a multitude of options, enabling you to scale your data repository up to exabyte level, with redundancy, privacy and performance options to suit your needs. Depending on the options you select, your data is kept in Google's worldwide data centers with settings for automatic redundancy. To setup Google Storage options follow our detailed Google Cloud Storage guide to first setup a Service Account and then create a Storage Bucket. Buckets are the GCloud Storage containers used to hold your data.

Storage by the Bucket

Set 3CX backup location to Google Storage Bucket.

Configure your Google Storage Bucket and head to"Backup and Restore" in the 3CX Management Console. With the JSON file for your service account at hand, here you can set “Google Storage” as the target location. Alternatively, you can keep your current backup settings intact and configure Google Storage only for archiving recordings in "Recordings" > "Location".

And you’re all set! Just keep in mind that active retention options in Google Storage can conflict with effective management of your backups and archived recordings from the 3CX Management Console. If you experience such issues, you will need to disable any active retention policies for the storage buckets and/or folders you use with 3CX.
