With Update 5 came the introduction of WhatsApp integration and our SMS integration received a massive overhaul. As a result, here are a few changes to be aware of in preparation for Update 6.

Old Messaging proxy will be terminated

SMS setup is now simpler with the configuration being carried out directly in the SIP trunk config. You do not need to configure numbers twice and SMS will be auto-configured for all DIDs. With Update 6, the old messaging implementation will be removed. This messaging proxy proxied all SMS texts and was a single point of failure.

All previous SMS configurations residing in the Management Console must be deleted and re-created using the new simplified method.

If you haven’t already done so check out the guides for our SMS providers that were supported on our old messaging proxy: Bandwidth, Flowroute, Telnyx, Twilio. We strongly recommend moving to preferred and supported providers!

All users using PREFERRED or SUPPORTED providers don't need to do anything: Skyetel, Voxtelesys, Wavix.

Facebook deprecated in favor of WhatsApp

WhatsApp in 3CX Web Client

Facebook Messenger integration will officially be deprecated with Update 6. Facebook allows for only one point of failure, which means one ban by Facebook and all our users are affected. We cannot take that risk. If Meta updates the Facebook Messenger API to work like WhatsApp, we will review the integration again.
