Normal backups complete without any issues.

Trying to take a full backup before upgrading to v16 (Windows 10), I get the following error.
Any ideas?

3CX Phone System tried to backup but failed due to the following reason(s):
System.IO.IOException: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)
at System.IO.FileStream.ReadCore(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count)
at System.IO.FileStream.Read(Byte[] array, Int32 offset, Int32 count)
at System.IO.Stream.InternalCopyTo(Stream destination, Int32 bufferSize)
at _3cxNetBackupAndRestore._3cxBackup.ZipFile(String dst, IFile src)

is there a massive volume of recordings file or not so much?

Ok so it's very small volume

Yes, approx 10 folders.

I was able to copy 2.6gb ubuntu 20 iso file to the usb-hdd.

Ok , is your pbx HDD with enough free space to try the same copy directly on this one?

Ok, thanks for the update.
Even though I get the error message via email, I still get a backup.zip in the PBX console!

could you go to recordings folder here

Ok, I will do that in a few minutes.
I'm waiting for the backup to finish.

perhaps but if data inside are corrupted then backup may be of no use

I am able to copy the Recordings folder no problem.

To upgrade from v15.5 to v16.x, do all the boxes in the Backup need to be checked?

As you got a copy of recordings out of 3cx process i think you are good to go.

if you are unsure about FTP file , then do a local HDD backup and save it out of 3cx folders, in Documents for example

Full local HDD backup also gives the i/O error.

for upgrade , you need to unisntall V15.5, reboot pc
then install latest V16.6 and restore During install
Reconfigure your backup task while V16 is running

so you are not sure to have a good backup everywhere you tried ?

for upgrade , you need to unisntall V15.5
Can the v15.5 backup just be a backup with only the first 3 boxes checked - "Sys config, license & Chats"?
