This is a Windows 10 Pro VM installation on a virtual machine host. 3CX version 16.0.7.1078 attempting to update to 16.0.8.9. I have attempted to manually update this after a system reboot and also tried letting another automatic update have a go, but the update continues to fail. I don't see much in the way of support for Win10Pro installs, only the Debian installs.

Log files attached. Any assistance short of taking a complete backup and restoring from a fresh install would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, one of the updater log files was too large to upload to the forum by itself so I had to compress it into a zip file.

The strange thing I see is that checking the Updater1 log file, the last entry is from December 2020, so it as if it is not even trying to run Updater1.

Would you happen to have any A/V software installed on the 3CX Server? Or changed the Windows Defender settings? Generally anything that could somehow "lock" files.

Windows Defender was just checked and c:\ProgramData\3CX is added as an exclusion so Defender shouldn't be interferring with 3CX operations. There is no other A/V software installed.

This machine is only for 3CX install and until recently, had been operating normally, uncluding updates. No OS changes other than MS Updates have been made since it's install and provisioning.

If you manually start the upgrade from the 3CX Management Console, does it still fail? Also, after you press the button to start the upgrade, after approximately how much time do you receive the email about the failure, within the minute, after 5 minutes, longer?

I will need to perform this task after hours. The last time I performed a manual upgrade, I did not babysit nor pay attention to time in which email was sent after upgrade initiated. I will have more info tomorrow. Any additional information today to troubleshoot would also help.

I think it's something not allowing the Updater1 process to start, as it is not even writing a log entry that it's trying to start. Now what that could be, not sure.

Why not just run the 3cx ISO? its a VM so why complicate things?

It's already a complicated matter since it started happening in the first place for an unknown reason. If you have some insight, please contribute. Not sure why you would clutter the post with unnecessary questions.

@BEAR.TECH keep it calm, they were only suggesting you basically take a full backup and do a quick re-install to get to the latest version, which quite frankly if you don't have a big installation, might not be such a bad idea if you simply want to get on with it...
This of course you can do on a Linux as @JamesDyke suggested, or of course on the current Windows machine you are already using.

If you want to try and figure it out though, try a manual upgrade process and see how much time it takes to get the email if that fails, as that might give us a clue as to why it could be failing.

Apologies for sounding crass. I understand that I may very well have to uninstall current and install new version and load backup and I stated as such in the original post. I simply didn't see value in @James Dyke 's response. This is a moderately sized phone system setup so performing that task, while perhaps inevitable, is something I'd like to reserve as last-resort.

I will have additional information tomorrow morning on the upgrade after testing manual upgrade and email response time while observing PBX logs.
