You can run a hypervisor inside the Diskstation - using debian
CPU: Intel Atom C3538, Ram 32GB max.
This should probably work.

Does anyone know who tried himself this will not work?

Thank you.

Do you care if it will work or if it would be supported? If the former it shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes to install it and figure it out yourself. If the latter, check this document:

https://www.3cx.com/docs/recommended-hardware-specifications-for-3cx/

30 seconds of Googling seems to indicate it is KVM which, as long as it meets the requirement of being v2.8 or up should work. That being said whether it is vanilla KVM or based on KVM could change your experience. Should you decide to try it, do let us know how it goes!

I dont care if its supported, Customer needs a NAS anyway. If it does not work properly I will have to buy a Raspberry PI as alternative. Of course I will share my experience.

Hi,

In theory it will work, but it might not be a very good experience because as you are probably aware Atom cores are quite weak. They will be responsible for running the NAS operating system and services, as well as running a VM on top and that might be a bit too much for it.

A dedicated device (even if a Pi 3B+) should be a better solution in this case since it won't have to do anything else other than run the PBX and has already been tested by us for upto 16EXT and 8SC.
