I have been trying several solutions to achieve my goal.

Goal:
- Windows Desktop Softphone (current version, V20, Microsoft Store) should automatically change the user status to Available when the user is logged in
- Windows Desktop Softphone should change status to Away when screen is locked or user logged off

Aim:
- The aim is to achieve this via local Windows task schedule on each device
- To achieve this, I need to call an application each time the task is triggered

Solutions that failed:

1) I tried to write a batch file that starts the application and sends *30 / *31 to 3CX; I failed to find the proper path and add the parameter to be executed; i get a path to 3CXSoftphone.exe shown on the task manager, but if that path is opened and the exe called, this gives an error back

2) I tried a batch file to get the browser to open a tel:*31 / tel:*30 link; but this only shows *31 in the field and does not execute it

3) I tried to install the 3CX Click to Call in the hopes that this would help initiated the above call; it doesn't

4) I searched to see if there is a SET function for extensions in the 3CX Api; but there is none; if there was one, I could write a simple .exe file that calls the api in this regard

So I have a lot of failed solutions. Obviously, I would prefer if this feature was available by the desktop app itself, but as it isn't, I wonder if anyone has one of the possible solutions successfully implemented.

Thank you for your support.

Hello londonpapakura,

Basically, you are looking for a way to use (for example) the api to change an user status from Avaiable to Away (and back), so you can automate this with the Windows events, correct?

Yes, that would be the solution path described under point 4. I would however prefer to find a functional way as noted under 1) or 2) as I think there should be a way of initiating a call without having any interaction from the user. Any ideas, anyone? Your help is much appreciated.

Adding to the app itself the behaviour of automatic available-away switching depending on Windows log-on log-off would of course be the best option, as I see in the forum a number of requests that cover this feature. Is this an option, @ThomB_3CX?

I'll see if we can do something with the API and C#.
