Blacklisting Country

Would blacklisting a number 161(*) stop calls coming from UK numbers, were getting spammed today

If the numbers match, it blacklists them. It doesn't care about country.

Sorry I don't quite understand? We are receiving over 100 of these calls a day from random numbers the only part that matches is the 1616 part. How do I block that range eg 1616* doesn't work

i can confirm on my tests ABPQ* is doing the job for blacklisting a number.

Hi Michael,

Just add 161* and you should be fine. It will also block legit calls from this number range though so please be aware.

I don't know which country you are based in, but I would expect to see +44 or 0044 to conclude that these are calls coming from the UK, so not sure why you think this is the origin.

Thanks for your replies. The sip provider said that it was from UK so i just went with it. I'm from Australia. Numbers still getting through with 161Shift8. Have been told to try 161(.Shift8) hopefully this works, only time will tell.

Make sure you are actually making a rule that matches. Check the caller ID in the invite if you're not sure (Activity Log)

Correct blacklist format is 161*

Incorrect blacklist format is 161(*)

It's odd that your provider knows the calls are coming from the UK, yet they are not (and they don't) prefixed with +44, or even 44. The code 161 is used in Manchester, but phone numbers there are 7 remaining digits, not 9 , as you are getting. So an actual number from the UK would be (0)161XXXXXXX, or 44161XXXXXXX
