I have a single 3CX Professional Annual PBX supporting multiple sites with multiple departments within each site. Imagine the following simplified scenario:
Site 1
- Department A (early shift)
- Department B (late shift)
Site 2
- Department C (early shift)
- Department D (late shift)
I want any users at Site 1 to be able to call pickup for either Department A or B users' incoming calls. Likewise for Site 2 with Departments C and D users' incoming calls. What I absolutely cannot have is users picking up calls at the remote site (e.g. Dept A users cannot pick up Dept C or D incoming calls).
All users have their "Main Department Membership" set to either Department A, B, C or D, as appropriate for them.
Question - If I add each user to a new additional Department named "Site 1" or "Site 2" (as appropriate for their location, and not changing their Main Department Membership), can I then enable the option "Limit call pickup to calls received within the same department" (System/Options under "General Options") to achieve my desired functionality?
I'm asking because I don't know if that option limits call pickup to just the Main Department Membership, or if it applies to any common department? I'm on v18 but am prepping for an imminent v20 upgrade and want to be sure of this behavior ahead of time. I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance.
