Hi,

I am having trouble configuring My Grandstream GXp-2000 to 3CX, i have tried following the phone set up guide on the 3CX website but i can't get it to work, my 3CX system is being run in the cloud by 3CX, and so i am lost in how to set this up successfully, i am completely new to the system and so i am not massively confident in using it, i know some would recommend upgrading the phone but i am working to a tight budget, and i have been given these devices from a friend and so i want to make these work.

Thanks

The GXP2000 isn't supported. Only GXP21xx, GXP16xx, GXP17xx and GRP26xx are.

This model is pretty old and even on a tight budget, get a GRP or GXP or even a Yealink, Snom or Fanvil. You'll get support, a recent phone and there are good models at good price points.

Is it possible to configure this phone though as ideally i would prefer this?

Thanks

You can configure it manually or use a custom template. Maybe ask Grandstream via their Help Desk if they have one for this model.

How would i configure it manually?

The same way you configure any SIP phones.

  • SIP Server
  • Auth ID
  • User ID
  • Password
  • NAT in STUN (if remote)

If you don't know how to configure SIP phones, I strongly suggest you buy a cheap Snom/Yealink/Fanvil phone that is supported. There are many and it will prevent any issues since there's a good chance that this phone won't support HTTPS nor any modern protocols.

Is the sip server, the public IP address of my 3CX system ? And then user Id and password on the setting for each extension

Hi Matt,

If this is a cloud PBX, yes the SIP server is the public IP of the machine.

The account fields must be populated accordingly. Make sure you whitelist your public IP of the phones location as you might blacklist it by mistake during trial and error.

Just to clarify i set this up by going into phones>add phone? It then ask you to select a model of phone but mine is not there, so how do i get round this?

Thanks

As we said earlier:

configure it manually

No need to "add phone" in the UI. Just copy the Auth ID and Password. User ID is the extension number.

You configure it via the web UI of the phone.

Yes, I am using the non-supported IP phone with 3CX as well, also I have another SIP endpoint which is not a supported brand name in 3CX phone list. Another post told me that we do not need to select the template from the 3CX phone list, just enter the Auth ID, password, and the extension number to the right fields on the ip phone console page, that's it.

My issue is that i can't access the grandstream control portal it just says "403, access denied". Is there a way to get round this

403 means forbidden. Are you using HTTP or HTTPS?

Also, did you factory reset the device? Web UI might have been disabled. Look on the phone's menu if there's a setting for that.

Phones usually allow provisioning via their Web UI, or via the phone menus on the screen, or via a provisioning server.

If it has been locked though, there is no other way unless you can start fresh from a factory reset state.

Ok, i have sorted the issue with gaining access to the online control for the phone, i can now access and control all of it.

My issue now is i enter the details below:

Sip server: 35.xxx.xxx.xxx (The Public ip address i got sent by 3cx when first setting up my cloud service)
outbound proxy: 35.xxx.xxx.xxx
SIP User Id: 001 (my extnesion number i am trying to link the phone to)
Authentication id: My id i found under Extension>authentication
Authentication Password: My Password i found under Extension>authentication

In the status section of the control panel it says 'not registered'

And next to the extension number under extensions is red.

Have i configured it all right, if not where have i gone wrong?

Thanks

Remove the IP from the proxy. No need. Proxy is used only with SBC.

I'd also recommend using the FQDN.

SIP Server: your-instance.3cx.tld

Where TLD is the one for your country/state. Ex.: instancename.my3cx.ca for Canada

IP should work too tho.

I have given both a go and still not working.

Do you know how to set up FQDN?

Also any other reasons why it would not be working?

Thanks

There could be many reasons and since it's an old phone, it's not supported at all.
